Happiness only for 10€ (~14$) Casamatta white, Pompino and Colore. Think it's a perfect choice from eccentric Bibi Graetz. Especially love the translation of these names, a real art:)

Just had the Caymus Zin last night ($35 or so) and it was a crowd pleaser. Not as regal and defined as their Cabernet but very delicious for the price.

Onocoffee mentioned Paul Hobbs - he makes killer stuff that's worth seeking out.

Also Dunn Vineyards...he takes a more old-school approach and shuns the sort of fruit bomb style that has come to define Napa.

@Italiafan - Peju is a great spot, and they make a lot of really wonderful wines. I have never been let down by them.

Other recent wines worth mentioning - Newton Vineyards Cabernet and Merlot, Orin Swift's Palermo (and most anything OS), and the Belle Glos 'Las Alturas' Pinot Noir were all big hits amongst friends.

I know it's mainstream but for a red opus one has never let me down.
