Anyone know what size the 2 wingnuts are that secure the battery hold down frame? I measured the OD as about 6MM but there is no reference in the user or service manual. Had to put in a new battery today and dropped both wingnuts down behind the battery and can't find them.
I'm talking about the 2 small wingnuts that hold the upper rectangular frame over the battery, not the big wingnuts that hold the large cover that goes over the battery compartment. Right now there is nothing holding the battery in place so I can't drive it. And it was so nice out today.
    Any help much appreciated.

The nuts are M6 x 1.0 a very common size and available in the hardware bins at Lowes or True Value hardware. Likely the cheapest repair you will ever make.

Now does anyone know who makes a repro battery hold-down bracket?

Yep, M6 wingnuts at $.45 each. By far the cheapest repair ever. I have the original battery hold-down frame. If anyone really needs one made I will loan mine out after the summer so a copy can be made. It's just a simple rectangle with 2 small bulges on the outside of the long part of the frame that have holes in them so the threaded rods that are welded to the bottom of the frame can pass through them.

In an emergency a strong black rubber strap/bungee cord with hooks on the ends can be wrapped over the top of the battery and hook onto the lower frame. Just make sure to measure battery height first so you buy the right size. I used a rubber bungee cord on my '67 Cougar XR-7 convertible for years, and that had a monster battery. Never had a problem.

My battery tray only has (1)threaded rod that's welded to it (rear of tray). The front of the tray only has a loop that a removable threaded rod hooks onto.

Does anyone have a couple of good pictures and dimentions of an original battery hold down frame as I also don't have one and will need to make one up as close as possible to the original?

    regards Sam

Alberto gets stuff done quickly and very well. I had him build an interior tunnel for one of my Dinos that doesn't have AC so that if I decide to add a complete NOS AC system (that I have in storage) to my 246GT some time in the future, I can. The tunnel arrived in just a matter of weeks!

Thank you for the vote of confidence Mark!

Battery frames should be forthcoming :)
