On October 19th I attended the Wings Over Marietta Airshow held at Dobbins Air Reserve Base. Shows here are not an annual thing; they average about every other year, and have generally alternated between the Dobbins side and the NAS Atlanta side. Both have advantages: Dobbins has more space, but the sun angle is better on the NAS side.

This year the headliners were the Thunderbirds (not seen here in over 20 years), and the F-22 demo team (never before seen at the site of the aircraft's birth).

Here are some of the static display shots of the F-22 and a trio of Boeings. The E-8 J-STARS was actually the only type at the show that I had never seen before! This was one of the E-8A prototypes that was rushed into service during Desert Storm and did quite admirably; it is now based at Warner Robins AFB. The pink Delta 757 is in a special scheme commemorating the fight against breast cancer. They were actually letting people take photos sitting in one of the nacelle inlets!

I'll post more photos from this show in coming weeks as time permits.
