In try searching and the post a qestion...really I do! Windshield has little scaratches etc. Window glass could look nicer, can it be refurbished? Glass is 33 years old, at least! What is the latest technology for brightning up old glass? Indicator lamp covers, front back sides, these are original, do I replace them or what? TIA
Two schools of thought, actually... The "everything must be as new" school, and the "if it doesn't leak and isn't cracked, OK" school..... Both my cars have the original glass and lenses, replaced only as damage occurs. Many of the Dino bits are no longer available and have to be custom fabrcated by the Unobtanium Supply Company.....for $$$$, fair $$$, but nontheless. Are you OK since the crash??
You can polish the glass with a DIY kit or pay a professional. http://autopia.org/forum/archive/index.php/t-2965.html
Thank you for asking, the scrapes healed up pretty quickly, more tests to make sure no long term stuff. Starting to deal with insurance. the bike was a 1984 Honda Interceptor, original owner 16k miles, fast becoming a collector item. I want them to fix it, they want to scrap it. same old stuff. Which brings me back to the glass. So a stone hits the windshield, typically what will the insurance company do in the case of a Dino?
The insurance will cr@p their pants, price a new one...devalue yours due to age, and demand a 75% discount from the installing vendor..... I cannot make this stuff up man...that is what would happen! I have my Fcars with my common carrier but raelly need to move to a Specialty Carrier like Grundy.... I stuffed a beautiful Honda CB750 thru the side rear widshield of a Suburban once......over 400 stitches to the face and plastic surgery to get me presentable, broken jaw as well....no debate about fixing that wadded up machine (they had illegally u turned into my lane) I had a headache for about a year and a half..the family suggested a different hobby hence the Fcars and charity KART RACING! LOL! the other thing on the glass is replacements will NOT likley be by Saint Gobain...I have heard most recently Pilkington is casting them with various fit issues some good some bad...the cars are not the same you know minor hand built dimensional variance KILLS you..... I know I have crushed a few doors on the 308GTB......power tools are required for fitment.
A good glass guy can polish out lots of the scratches, if he's willing to mess with your $1200 windshield. I found one who will, just haven't had the time to get the car over to him. Eastwood sells kits. http://eastwood.resultspage.com/sea...score&w=glass scratch remover&rk=5]click here Most of the other stuff (lenses, etc.) is available. Which is not to say cheap, but available. Side reflectors, headlights, door lights all can be had from Re-originals, or superformance. Dennis McCann at www.allferrariparts.com has them too. Ebay can be a good source for some of this stuff. I've managed to grab two sets of westinghouse headlamps for a total of about $20. That beats the hell out of $75 each from some other folks. The rear reflector can be found, just not the bezel it goes in. Tail light lenses and surrounds are also no big deal. FRONT Turn signal lenses, (US spec) unobtainium supply is making some. Otherwise, you can sometimes find them on Alfa supply sites, at they fit the same era GTV. The Euro lenses are easy to get. I'd try polishing the windshield first. Maybe let a pro do it. DM

I had a professional polish my windshield and it turned out great. It took several hours and he charged around $500 (I had some other minor work on a Porsche) The lines on the windshield were just reference points for him for polishing and not cracks. I can pass along the info to anyone who is interested - I'm in LA. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
