The snow has melted a lot just today so by next weekend it should be mostly gone. I plane to take the F-car out on a pre-planned no pothole trip just to stretch her legs after almost 2 months. Next Sunday Morning should be nice.

My plan comes together! Rain tonight (3/10) in Bergen, followed by mid 50 degree partially sunny day tomorrow.

If there is not too much melting slush feeding brine back onto the roads it looks like Wednesday will be the end of a long wait.

In New York the roads are horrific. I don't remember being so bad before. The worst part is that I don't see too much DOT activity fixing the situation.

Course plotted. She's going out for a drive tonight. Get her on rte 135 and let it rip.

    Still no joy.

Rain but the roads never dried. Now the temps scheduled to plunge below where I would like to drive a summer tire.

But the worse part: the stones and gravel either spread with the brine by the towns or somehow spontaneously generating. I can ride a road and check for potholes, but stones and brine are impossible to avoid.

Even though half my car is covered with plastic film, the first thing that happened after buying was a nasty rock chip on rear quarter panel. Really.

Picked up MIL @ JFK last thurs...had to run her out to daughter's place on LI

DOT? TWO lanes closed on Southern State...followed by TWO lanes closed on Meadowbrook.

    Pothole repair.

Other than union rules, any reason this stuff can't be done at night? Massive backups both roads...took almost as long to go 30 miles as it did to fly 1000.

Rt 135 is actually quite nice. The repaving project that took forever to finish finally paid off. Nice and smooth most of the way.

In contrast, westbound on the northern state in Nassau is horrible. In some cases, the "patches" are worse than the holes!

135 was nice. I was able to avoid all the potholes. Took a ride this morning before the snow arrives

I thought Bergen county didn't bother salting anymore :)

They salted here last night so no driving this weekend. I may back it out of the garage to give it a clean though.

    Then I'll go skiing instead.
