Image Unavailable, Please Login Hi, my first Winter with my first Ferrari.

lots of snow here In MN during winter, so most likely won’t drive car from about late November until March when snow melts.

    it is a 2017 Cali T

I plan on using the battery tender that came with the car.

I plan on starting it up every week or two and letting it run some with garage open

are there any other suggestions, it must dos? Am I doing anything wrong?

I would recommend putting on battery tender and letting it sit without starting till March. If you can heat the garage a little on very cold days. Also a few arm and hammer baking soda boxes in the car and trunk. Additionally ..not really a must , and if you have room move car 6 ins back or forth without starting car. Put 5 10 lbs of extra air in tires as well ..

Before putting away ..take a good drive and warm up all fluids until very hot .. maybe a 10- 20 mile spirited drive

    Some more items (optional)

Protect the rubber and seats with proper protectant

So not wash and put away wet

You will be ready to go in spring

Not an expert, but I've heard that just starting the car without actually driving is more harmful than not. When stored in a personal garage, also remember that mice like a nice home, sometimes under the hood. One of our friends uses LOTS of mousetraps in his garage full of classics. Make sure the tender is plugged in and check periodically especially if you have a GFCI outlet that could "pop". We live in Illinois and opt for storage at the Ferrari dealership for the worst winter months. GOOD LUCK!

Just a suggestion not related to storage, but i would remove all of the yard tools from the wall next to the car. Stranger things have happened

    Congrats on your beautiful car.

A good idea is to fill the gas tank and add fuel stabilizer to it.
Run the car to ensure the treated gas gets through the system before you put her to bed.
It will help to keep the fuel fresh.

    best wishes,
    Gene Greer

If you start the car, it must get to full temp, oil and water. This is very hard to do at idle in dead of winter. I would suggest that you add fuel stabilizer and drive it hard and fast to get max heat, have a nice cool down cruise and park it. When you park it, exercise everything, all seat functions, heat, a/c, radio, top, etc. every button or switch you can find. You could do this every month or so as well. Inflate the tires an extra 5-10 PSI. Then wait for warm weather.
The engine and gearbox will have moisture that will not be evacuated with starting and idling, has to be full temp. This is why you don't start it during hibernation.

I agree with Alex and MerlinTech, starting a car every couple of weeks can be worse if you don't get everything hot. I had mice get in my cars here in Michigan, but since I started using a car jacket I have not had problems:

Use a quality cover, it will protect it from dust and more importantly, cushion it from light bumps or mishaps while moving around in the garage.
