Living in the Midwest, and planning to use my incoming (tomorrow) FF as a daily driver, I am looking for some actual experience with snow tires. It seems the SottoZero's are most popular, but I cannot find the 295 rears anywhere, only 285 or 305. The dealer is saying they don't suggest any size other than true factory as it may harm the AWD system.

    Help please!

The rears for SottoZero's will be 285's, fronts will be 235's both smaller than the summers. I have them on my car. See the video located at http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/ff-f12/433477-ff-snow.html

The smaller tread width will actually help a bit on accelerating and braking traction in snow. The tire's footprint will be slightly longer but narrower (with the same footprint area), which promotes traction on snow.

I am hard put to understand the dealer's input. When the FWD is engaged, the wet clutch in the forward gearbox slips so as to ensure that the front drive is synchronized with the rear drive. That will still work in the slightly smaller snow tires.

I've got 'em, they seem to last well and should do you for a few seasons. They do give you confidence in the wet too, which is why I opted for them.

Thanks guys. Taking delivery Saturday, putting on the 235's and 285's on Monday at the dealer, per factory specs.

Very excited. Have two dozen Porsche homologation cars and will be fun to experience my first Ferrari.

Also, sometimes different tires end up being slightly different sizes- so its possible the 285 rear SottoZero isn't much different in actual size than the 295. I've seen tires that say they are 275 and are really no different from their 255 brothers. It all depends on the specific product. Don't get me wrong I'd really prefer to get the exact numerical match, the point is sometimes the numbers aren't quite as telling as you'd expect.

Picking up my FF tomorrow. Dealer installed SottoZero II's - 235/285 - seems to be the right/standard call for the car
