Wiper motor DIY 59

A friction noise developed when I turned the wipers the other day, since wiper motors are known to fail I decided to open it rather than buying a new one.
The removal of the motor is straight forward, I opened the body which holds with 2 screws and found a loose magnet. The magnet detached because of rust. I removed the rust with sand paper and cleaned the body with brake cleaner. Once dry I used some epoxy to glue it back. These magnets are strong and I had to use tooth picks between the two half to keep them centered and against the body. While you are there, don’t forget to clean with sand paper the copper contacts on the rotor where the brushes make contact.
a little trick to reassemble the body, take the 3 brush springs off and put the rotor first in the mechanism, put the spring back and then only put the black body. The body has a hole at the bottom, make sure it faces downwards when reassembled.
It’s an easy diy job honestly and saves 700$ on the new part which sells only as a complete wiper module.
