How slow are 3x8/Mondial wipers supposed to be? I mean is the period supposed to be measured in geological ages? When lifted "off glass" mine seem to be fine but when back against the screen (wet), they take probably over 3 seconds to complete each cycle on "normal" speed. Also, the "park" position seems to be one "tooth" short even though the cycle does go full-swing, yet when "off-glass" they park properly at the end of the sweep.

Does this sound like an earthing problem, or do the wipers have a history of weak motors? (I found an old wiper mechanism set in the old parts that came with the car, so someone has done something to the wipers before)

I have the same question. My 77 308 wipers are slow also, and I'd like to know if there's a fix. I replaced my fuse blocks with modern ones, and that improved my slow blinkers/hazards and other things, but my wipers are really non-functional..

    anybody?

First thing to check would be the charging system of the car. Make sure your alternator and battery are in good shape. My wipers work ok but definatly anit the great. You must rememebr the wiper circuit in these car has along way to travel. From the fuse, to the relay, to the wiper switch, on up to the motor,,all kinds of places along the way to loose amps and voltage. Make sure all grounds and connections are good and clean and tight. You may also just have a tired motor.

My wipers are slow as well.. along with the window slowing lifting, instrument gauges low dimmy light, blinking pop-up light. I wonder if you have improved any of these related fuse blocks problem after you changed yours with the modern fuse blocks.... Anything you gain from the new fuse blocks???

Remove and clean up the terminals and the metal where the ground wires are bolted to as well. They tend to corrode and you will suffer from VD. (Ahh, I mean your Car may have Voltage Drop!)

    Patpong,
I may be imagining it, but my windows seem a bit faster, but not by much. My dash lighting seems just a bit brighter also, but still, just by a little. I like to know of a bulb retrofit for better dash lighting, if available.

I'm not sure what you mean by blinking pop-up light--probably the headlamp motors. Mine behave fine; it's just the switch on the stalk is kind of loose and is easy to bump, causing the "headlight dance"!

I recommend switching to modern fuse blocks. Contact Birdman here on F-Chat. He did mine, they work great. Simple install.....

Here's how to upgrade the lights in the dash..http://www.ferrariclub.com/faq/dashlights.html

I replaced mine before I did the fuse block upgrade and it was much better. The tach will not get as bright as the speedo though.

As for the wipers, mine were intermittent or didn't work at all before the new fuse blocks, but they work fine now.

Ya'll are aware you have to oil the wiper shafts???????? Sewing machine weight oil works best.......

The console switch varies speed between 'slow' and 'slower'.........

New OEM blocks now retail for $400 for both, for purists!

Nope, didn't know that! Thanks, have to check it out.

Mine are slow too, but faster when wet (not that I allow them to get wet very often!)

LOL! Who cares what they do, anyway!!!!!!

I'm just teasing Greg..........he agonized over the purchase decision and is now working on everything on the car!

Good learning experience I say...my first ownership experiences were blown headers and engine compartment fires (Yellow #22127). Makes slow windows, dim bulbs and wipers tame by comparison!

You haven't lived, 'till you've boiled the brakes coming down from Yosemite Blue #22641). I still have her fingernail marks on my forearm.......

Yea, just raise the arms to vertical and let some Royal Purple or something trickle slowly down the shaft....give it some love!

Do you mean popping the wiper arms off & putting some oil down between the splined spindle & the housing?

geekstreet...no need to take anything off.....oil on the shafts just above the point where the shafts rotate in the bushing thru the body plate...between the "moving' shaft and the "unmoving' housing......
