    Hi,

I have a 2016 Cali T with the factory (wired) Apple CarPlay option. This works perfectly.

I’ve had great success in my other vehicles or using CarLinkIt to make wired CarPlay wireless. I have their v3 and v5 devices.

However I can’t get this to work in the California. When I plug the CarLinkIt unit in (to the CarPlay socket) the Headunit powers off. I am speaking to CarLinkIt support,

I see from this forum, some users have had success. Any advice would be welcome.

    Thanks
    Chris

Interesting. The factory fit wireless CarPlay for later model year Romas has an IP address homepage listed as 192.168.3.1 when it's connected to my phone. Guess which Chinese aftermarket wireless CarPlay brand uses that IP address (amongst some others) as its router homepage.....

Thanks. I can connect to the CarLinkIt unit before and after it causes the Headunit to power off. It feels like it’s doing something, which causes the Headunit to react badly.

Hoping someone, who’s had success, can share any setting changes they may have made.

I got a couple of carlinkits works perfectly in my portofino and I have one in my van also perfect
Stupid question but you have connected it to your phone via Bluetooth? That’s all you should have to do then it connects. Maybe try it in another car… the socket it plugs into sometimes before I got the kit it wouldn’t connect had to keep moving the wires

Thanks Zarakoff, would you mind letting me know if you changed any default settings; or what your settings are?

I've connected via BlueTooth. I have two CarLinkIts, and they both work great in my Porsche.

Since you have a Cali T with OEM CarPlay, your system is quite different than the other Cali Ts. Your NIT is split into 3 Units. The NIT, remote Display, and PKIN (i-node). Where as the non-carplay unit is 1 Unit. First you need to make sure you are using the USB for CarPlay that is in the center console. That USB send the data to the I-Node which then controls the output to the remote display. The other USB in the center console is strictly for i-pods etc. and not for CarPlay. The other issue is that if you do not disconnect the USB CarPlay unit, the i-node thinks your stereo is still on and may not turn off.

Is your head unit turning off or is the screen just going blank? Also 2016 was the first year Ferrari was offering CarPlay. The i-node actually has a sticker on it stating "Prototype" but in Italian. The unit is made by a company called ART. Finally the USB for CarPlay sends it signal to the I-Node via an LVDS cable with a fukra connector to prevent transmission loss across the wire because the unit expects a stronger signal than new CarPlay units. If your wireless adapter does not send a strong signal, it will be dropped. If you want further information about how to do it, DM me.

bb2thdr: Scott, do you have a definitive front camera solution for Robin’s Cali T and my Portofino? Is so, we need to order the cameras and you need to get down to Boca to install them.

The only wireless CarPlay solution I have found to work on CaliT's with OEM CarPlay is:
    Carlinkit CPC200-U2W Plus.

I believe it was originally designed for 2016 Mercedes Benz since they were the first to have OEM CarPlay.

I am not sure if they still make that unit though. I'll attach a pic.

I do not recommend you use that unit while trying to charge your phone to a magnetic charger. The phone tends to heat up and after about 3 hours of consistent use the phone will start glitching from being too hot.

it simply just plugs in then just connect your phone via Bluetooth to the kit , you only need do it once then every time you get to in it just connects automatically they are real game changers there’s no settings they seem to work well in any vehicle

The connection (to the CarlinkIt) is working, as I can access the device and settings, but not to the Headunit (which just turns off) once the device boots/starts up.

The default settings are not working, so looking get some advice on what these should be.

Are you using the correct usb connection? One connection is the CarPlay output, the other USB connection is for updating and attaching to a computer to download the firmware. You need to connect the small USB C to the large CarPlay USB in the center console.

Yes, the one with the CarPlay logo. It works for a brief second, then the display turns off.

try to do a firmware update. I sort of remember doing that when I first installed it in my ferrari or other car.
