    Hi all-

I know there are a few NT/MCSE types on here and just wondering if anyone has any info on why my Dell is having issues with connecting with a wireless network.

I can see networks and connect to them with an "Excellent" signal rating, but IE/NS/FireFox only work intermittantly. Working right now, worked yesterday all day, and last night, and quit all day today.

This has happened with both connections that I control and others that I borrow.

Anyone have any idea what's going on?

    Nick

The only thing I could guess is that you have a software firewall set up that is conflicting with your browser.

Also check and see if you have any filters or blocks set in - Go to FireFox and check under tools/options - look at the setting in Web Features - see if you have any sites restricted... Also take off pop ups for a few minutes and see it that helps.

See if the same thing happes with IE.

Also - do you have an IP filter range set up on your Broadband or Wireless Router.. If you set it up to allow 3 connections - and you have 4 pc's that could cause intermittent problems like you describe.

Give those some thought and give us a little more detail.

if you can see the network the issue may be in the access point or your modem or sometimes the provider's QoS sucks and downtime exceeds from uptimes.

I good start is to reboot the wireless unit. If it's a linksys, even more so. They tend to not like a lot of uptime.

which dell model? I've had various issues with the build in wireless NICs but... sometimes they autofix themselves.

first suggestion - get updated drivers at support.dell.com - drop me a line if it continues.
