    Hi All,

I was watching TV tonight and there was a news segment that talked about this 8 years old kid with leukemia.
His mother asked him "What do you want for your birthday present?" and he simply replied "A card".
What they want to do is break the world record for cards received.

    Could you guys help him?

    Here is the website.

Not to be pessimistic of a great idea and cause, but isn't the record for something like this MILLIONS of cards?

I will still send off a card for him though. Is it curable?

Not to be an arse either, but didn't the last person to go for this record happen to be a terminally ill child? Does anyone else remember that?

I'm all for supporting the kid- it just seems slightly odd to have a record go back-and-forth between children with serious illnesses.

I'm sick of sick kids soliciting cards. Because of my sickness I too wish to set a record, albeit the most cards for sick adults record. Please send me a get well card, along with a $20 donation for my favorite charity, to the address located on my website that's being developed.

My favorite charity is in desperate need of a larger house...oops, clinic....and Ferrari's...umm...fast patient transfer vehicles, and other what-nots.

I look forward to the millions of dollars...ehhh...cards that will be sent to me. Thank you!

if the average card costs $1 and average postage is 40c and the record is 2M cards (i have NO idea what the record is), then breaking the record is a nearly $3M investment.

i have to assume that $3M in cash could actually help further the cause of treating and maybe someday curing leukemia - that's real money.

somebody ought to talk to this kid's partents.

    mr. pragmatic,
    doody.

Hmmmm.....good point. All for a larger pile of cards that benefits, well, big business like Hallmark, etc just making paper cards which get thrown out in a dump site. For a fraction of the 3million, donations could send the unfortunate child and, well, about 20 or 30 other of the Nations few thousand victims to, say, Magic Kingdom for 1-2 days. Never saw a child not have a blast there. Disney would probably either give a slashed rate or even free entry.
