    When pushing out the old bushing to replace with the OE style from superformance… do i need to reuse any of the original bushing cylinder from the wishbones?

    Essentially… should i leave the Factory outer metal bushing in place or remove and press in the full new bushing and weld… or do you even need to weld?

    The entire bushing is pressed out, and replaced. You may also have spacers around some of the bushing - note their positions, and be sure they are put back on.

    Rubber bushings should get a weld (which means, you need to grind a weld off the old one for removal); poly bushings do not get a weld.

    You have to remove the old tack weld from the old bushing first

    Just doing this job now. The only issue I had was trying to find the appropriate cup to support the control arm while pushing out the old bushing and pressing in the new one. Give them a tack weld scuff them and I used some VHT chassis and rollbar black paint. My car suffered some deferred maintenance by the previous owner ;)

    I used a 3in PVC pipe section that I bored a tad bit oversize to press out then press the bushings in. I also used a hole saw to cut the welds off the bushings - worked perfectly. Now on to painting.
    I have my shocks off and freshly painted. Now I have to figure out how to put the springs on without scratching the **** out of them. I think I have it sorted in my mind, but won't mention it till it works.

    Why do they need to be welded in? What would occur if you didnt weld them in?

    Something really bad ;) The OEM bushings were tack welded to the control arms and replacement requires a tack weld and final torque with the car on its wheels. I opted for the OEM rubber bushing but there are alternatives that do not require welding. If you did not tack the OEM type busing it would just rotate in the control arm and eventually the bushing or the arm would suffer a failure. Mine were due for replacement ;)
