How much testing has LB done with a ban on testing? Any? Preseason only? Straight line only? Why do we even have test drivers with the ban?

The rules now are 15000km of testing per year(prior to start of championship).

While most of that 15k has been split between Massa/Kimi. I'm guessing he would of got atleast 1k of testing. Which is 3~ full races worth.

If he fails in Valencia they can always replace him for Gene for the remaining races.

Luca was testing the car somewhere in November-December last year. Of course, over the season it would be a totally different car now. Plus, don't forget those simulators.

Let's face it the other drivers will run circles around him. My guess is it's a one race stint and we see MS(or someone else) fill in quickly for the rest of the year.

I think he's ready. He's had a miserable career always in rubbish machinery. I was disappointed in Ferrari in 1999 to replace Schumacher with Salo. I think Badoer has been loyal for so long that I'm happy to see him get the seat. While he hasn't raced for a while he should be quick. He is a Formula 3000 champion (the predecessor to GP2) and had a Minardi running 4th in the European GP for the gearbox expired.

Granted it can't compare to the excitement a Schumacer return would have [will] generate but I'm happy to see Luca get another chance.
