My 308 had to go to the shop(split radiator). A job that( I was told) would take a week is now 3 weeks old. I did not realize how much I enjoyed my weekends in the car. And now that we are into the third week .......I'm going to need a fix soon. Anybody with similar stories?

Well, I pulled my radiator to find out it had rot in the corners where it sits on rubber pads.

Rather than having my old radiator rebuilt, or purchasing a new stock radiator, I decided to adapt a Chevy style light weight aluminum racing radiator to fit the 308.
It cost less than a new stock radiator.
It weights half as much as the stock radiator.
And it cools the car much better than the stock radiator.

    Similar story, different ending.

It took me about a week to do, including shipping on the radiator.

Dave, nice work! Great idea to move away from Italian engineering on cirtical parts that don't enhance the experince.

    Dave,

Why not post the make, model, part number, supplier, etc of that radiator for others who may want to share in your cleverness?

    Good thinking. A "cool" idea!

I've had my car up on jackstands (see profile pic) for about 6 weeks now while I got wheels exchanged, reconditioned them, had the alternator rebuilt, and have also done a list of other jobs. Yes, I am in withdrawal and am working toward having it back on the road by mid-November or sooner. Late fall, winter, and early spring are best 330 driving months here...it's just too hot the rest of the year

Dave, it looks great. What kind of modifications did you have to do to the radiator to get it to fit? Also, is your car a 308 or a 328?
