WOW. Look at that! I gotta see rear picture of the car. That has to look amazing. More pictures...please!
Not to rain on the parade.... It looks cool but what is the benefit? Also, the OEM design has air intakes via the body ducts, how will air get into these? (Meaning the body work will have no benefit) And, do you now need to modify the engine bonnet?
The benefit would be the correct length to hit the 3rd and MAYBE even the 2nd order harmonic resonance. For example, I measured the length of the intake runners on my 348 from the back of the intake valve to the opening of the runner = 11" long. At that length the 3rd order harmonic is around the 8895/rpm. If the length of 355's runners are similar (I have no idea if they are) from the back of the intake valve to the opening of the velocity stack it's gonna put the 3rd harmonic just out of reach. Since the 355 has it's rev limiter at 8750rpm the 3rd order harmonic is just out of reach at virtually 8900/rpm. If you add just 1" to the total length in the intake runner that moves the 3rd order harmonic down to around 8154/rpm, well within the rpm limits of the 355, and right in the area where the 355 makes peak power in stock form. The benefit of this a potential increase in volumetric efficiency = more power. So my question is, Are we gonna get to see some before and after dyno sheets?
I bet there's a sound benefit to this modification too. Any before and after sound clips? All the best, Andrew.
I love it when somebody says "Not to rain on your parade" That means they're gonna try to rain on your parade. Ain't no rainin' on Group77racing's parade. He ain't gotta 'splain that gorgeous beast to nobody! He doesn't do anything that ain't righteous. That thing's gonna haul booty!
Regardless of what you think Bruce, I asked the question because: aside from the cool looks, I do not understand the benefits, that's all - no agenda.
Here's a solid and concise explanation of the purpose of Velocity Stacks: Velocity stack - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia And here's a concise and succinct opinion: That is 100% kick a$$! Loved the last intake mods you put up Group77. Would love to hear more about what you've done to the car.
