Here is the background info on the Malaysian GP from 1999! October 17, 1999 three hours after the race, both Ferrari's F399 were disqualified after winning first and second place. Mika Häkkinen therefore became world champion until the FIA has decided. The reason for being disqualified was, the barge-boards were 10 millimeter to long. The same barge-boards were also used at the European GP and FIA officials checking the car then, had no complains. On 23 October after the hearing, FIA officials in Paris declared, that the Ferrari barge-board were within regulation. Irvine, Schumacher and the Scuderia received all there points back. wolfman
