I read that she had crashed this car a week before her death (nothing to do with how she died - drug overdose). She was supposed to be buried in a different Ferrari but her brother-in-law was too cheap to sacrifice the more expensive car, so he buried her in this one. Engine had to be taken out for environmental purposes. So if you really want a wrecked Ferrari with no engine, and want to go to jail for grave robbery, then get your jackhammer and have at it. Ha-ha.

    Way to 'bump' the thread!!

The grave was capped in concrete, brudda.......it's rather hard to find also, big cemetary......but there's been Fchatters drop in, to pay respects.....

    dstacy has pictures, IIRC....

In this day and age it's hard to believe that your aunt had children and you are completely in the dark about them. I met sandra's daughter back in 1980. We lived next door to each other. Her name is Mary West. Thankfully, god was watching over her along with a wonderful grandmother. It's just another tragedy in this story that the Hara's, I believe you said that Sandra and you mother were sisters, didn't tell you they existed.
It's so sad that Mary has never been a part of your families lives. Truly hope that one day someone in your family acknowledges her existence.
You don't need a Ferrari to bury a hatchet.

What an amazing story. I read the whole thread in one breath! Like said before, Peace with Angels..

One question tho, was she born on 1939? or 1940?
    Wikipedia says 'January 2, 1939',
    Her gravestone says '1939'
The article SJG has shared says '1940'
    T308's article says 'January 2, 1940'.

What is the right date of year?

The only other one I know of who was laid to rest with his Ferrari was Von Tripps. The was an elaborate ceremony as part of the event. just one man's opinion tongascrew

As far as I know, the car is still in Germany (same owner for 15 years). Here it is there as of last year:

I'm going to be buried with my fan belts because like some endless threads, they last forever.

What an interesting thread. RIP Sandra.
One post mentions that the engine was removed prior to burial. Does anyone know what became of it?
