I have a 1978 308 GTS, which will not start after having driven it a week or so ago. It was fine then, but I did have to install a recharged battery. You got any ideas?

One week off shouldn't kill a battery. Do you have a lot added "electrics"? One thing you might do is measure the current drawn from the battery when everything is supposedly "off". Also wouldn't hurt to make a voltage measurement at the battery with the engine at ~2K RPM just as a quick blush to check/verify the alternator performance.

Are you also saying that if you drive it more regularly, but over a longer total time period, you have no problems? (i.e., the alternator seems to be working?)

Thank you for responding. I'll try it and if that doesn't work I will load on a truck and take up to the mechanic.

Also, after charging, did you have the battey "load tested" to ensure it can hold a suffient charge?
