This is probably a well known thing, but was the Nardi wood steering wheel a factory option on 365 GTB/4's? If so, worldwide or specific markets?

    Thanks

Most plexi cars had wooden momo wheels some had leather, most now seem to have been changed to wooden wheels.

Early leather momo wheels had the momo lettering stamped on the back of the bottom spoke in a square, 69-72 [as per photo]
Later cars around 72 had momo had it stamped in the same place but in a line.
73 cars had it stamped on the front of the bottom spoke in a line and the spokes had no holes in them. see photo in the back of photo

grant, i would not use those above plexi examples as reliable data points as they are seem incorrectly restored. best to use original magazine articles and other in period pictures.

Thanks. Part of the problem is I'm not sure what I'm looking at. I could have sworn this was a Nardi wheel (attached pics). That's the type I've seen on several Daytona's.

I know the leather wheel was MOMO. Does anyone have a pic of a MOMO wood wheel? Or is the attached pic not Nardi but MOMO?

I know nothing. But those wooden steering wheels - MOMO or Nardi - are just wonderful and add to the Daytona's style and character. With the wooden wheel it's a different car. If car and period correct, I would prefer them in any case.

For many years I thought my 330 GTC had an (original) Nardi wood rim wheel but subsequently I found the Momo logo on the back. As far as I can see the two wheels are identical but I recall that in the late 60s/early 70s Italy was plagued with industrial disputes and I suspect Ferrari sourced parts from different supliers at different times.

    Hi Ed
Clearly this is not my only source of information, we have talked about this before on F-chat. Plexi owners have confirmed that their car can with leather wheels from new, I also have photos of cars pre restoration that had leather wheels and then were change to wooden in the misbelieve that all plexi cars had wooden wheels, I merely was just pointing out that out of just a handful of plexi cars for sale at the moment at least these 3 had leather wheels, and 2 had early leather wheels, the other you cannot tell because some idiot has polished the spokes.

Thanks everyone. Never knew the Nardi and the Momo looked alike, or that the 275/330 cars were also Momo.

    The TH car is amazing!
