First I like to say thanks for those who gave me some tips on how to prepare my car for the Smog Test. Well, I did exactly what most of you suggested, get the engine/Cat as hot as possible by running it hard (open throttle) for a few sec. Oil temp and watter temp up to normal. I Did NOT replace any parts and this is the results I got, the technician said my car runs like NEW. Can somebody tell me if this numbers are good or just average? Thanks. 1984 308 GTS QV 74,500 miles Image Unavailable, Please Login
The AVE column is the "average." But for what? Ferraris? All cars? Your model year? Don't ask any questions at the smog station because either they don't know either or they are all in on the conspiracy.
Congrats Mike !! Mine just passed last Oct, it sure is a great feeling to know that it's running so well.
Big deal...try getting a 78 308GTS carb car to pass! Mine did, first time through, though I still had the factory cats and air pump running. Amazing all that stuff still worked! This was back in 2001.
But for what? Ferraris? All cars? Your model year? Every car they ever tested? Cars that pass, or does it include failing cars as well? It may as well be made up, since no one appears to know what the data comes from. I've asked at every smog check - and I used to manage a small fleet at work - and no one has apparently ever asked this question before. But that's irrelevant to your PASSING grade!
Does your county do minimal testing ? You have no results for HC & CO, my bay area test has results for these columns.
Larry, my County does the full testing, the reading that you see are the results, Zero which mean it's way below average and and the lower the better. The tech guy said that if I didn't have good Cat. it will show higher readings. No wonder he was very surprise how clean my car runs for a 24 year old car. In fact the guy from BAR was there while they were testing my car. Him too was impressed.
