I believe that to be the intake vacuum to 1atm suction sound as I previously described. I will admit it is very pronounced, like you have a K&N cone filter or something. Having BMC filters will make it more pronounced, but maybe you should do the following tests:
    1. Inspect L and R BMC filters to make sure they are seated correctly and have not failed in some way. Also make sure they are sealing correctly. If both sides sound the same, the chance of a specific filter install issue is minimized.
    2. Reinstall your OEM filters and shoot another video.
    3. Go to your local cars n coffee or other get together with 360s and go for a ride in another 360 to listen to their intake.

I dont think you have an issue, but I am not 100% sure of that. What might cause an audible suction sound that is non intake related:
    1. Disconnected or failed intake vacuum line.
    2. Failed intake gaskets
    3. Failed or loose intake clamps

    Notes:
    1. On my 2006 F430 (different animal all together) I can nOT hear intake suction with stock filters.
    2. On my Porsche Boxster with 3.4L 911 engine and external K&N Cone Filter, I hear almost EXACTLY what is in your video. I can make a video if you wish? Its loud, pronounced, and ever so slightly cool.
    3. On my race motorcycles with 4x individual K&N cone filters bolted to the top of the velocity stacks I get this noise as clear as day and VERY loud. I also get an intake roar that may damage hearing. Intakes can be loud.

    Thanks Trent -

I'll do some more testing/fiddling in the next couple of days. Pop out the BMC filters, swap them with the stock filters, make sure they are sealed up correctly, etc. I'm not sure I can pick up the noise in the engine compartment, so far with the mic about 2 feet away from the air boxes, you can't hear the woosh. I'll fiddle around and see if I can pick up anything with the mic right next to each box. I assume any of the proposed problems, like failed intake gaskets would likely make the noise in the engine compartment as well...

    Another update

Back to paper filters, and noise 95% gone. I can still hear it, but just the pressure changing. Noticed theme filters sit higher in the boxes. I wonder if they are getting properly sealed. Otherwise, the whoosh just comes with the territory of getting more air sucked in...

    I say its not:
    1. BMC Filter mounting height
    2. BMC Filter allows more air in (it does allow air to be vacuumed in more easily)
    Its more likely;
    3. BMC Filter allows more sound to pass through its core material, thus allowing more road noise into the intake and more intake noise to your ears.

I think you have no issue and can drive and be happy....

The question is do I go with the whoosh or not. More, I'm curious about the actual db increase outside of the car - that will be my next test. I'm trying to keep the db from getting out of control :)

Nice one mate. Glad to know its just the filters and nothing else. Could you possibly please do another video with stock filters just for comparison?

Your wish is my command. It'll be here when the computer widgets are doing their thing.

    Woosh 2 - YouTube

With the mic in front of the air intake, you still hear that sound... I can barely pick it up from the driver seat with the window down. I'll try and stick my head or mic next to another car to see if there is any difference. Clearly the bmc just made whatever sound my car makes, even louder. Maybe someone else has an external mic they could record in the same spot??

[As a side note - love the exhaust gurgles. Also, whats with this ASR active business?]

Thanks so much for that. There's clearly a big difference. The initial woosh seems greatly reduced but also the intake roar as the revs build up also seem muted? Did you notice that as well? I think I might have to get some stock filters as to me the pure engine sounds are what it's all about for me.

Love the pops and crackles too although since putting super unleaded in a few weeks ago and closing my exhaust valves they seem to have disappeared, even with a new tank or regular fuel. Think I need to unplug the valves again and do an ecu reset to get them back. As for the asr active, thats just the car telling me I would be in a ditch bleeding heavily if it wasn't for its technology! Hehe.

Wonder how much putting in a challenge flexi pipe would also effect the noise in both aftermarket or stock filter setups. Would it effect the noise more or less than just changing the filters? Trent, did you ever take any before and after videos of your modded intake runners that could give an idea?

I had BMC filters in CF air boxes in my 360 and to the best of my recollection it sounded pretty much like what you've captured. periokid may be able to verify if he's still running that setup.

Just thought I would revive this thread. Just installed some K&N in my 360 spider. Had it out for the first time with the new filters and noticed this sound. Good to hear it is nothing major.

I figured with the new 360 owners, if you swap out the filters this might be a situation for you.
