The merchant marine is the nation's fleet of vessels which are primarily engaged in commerce. The merchant fleet is the workhorse and lifeblood of any seagoing nation. Merchant mariners are the civilians (like me) who man these vessels. In times of peace, the merchant fleet carries goods for trade. In times of war, the fleet carries supplies to support our overseas forces. Domestic shipping is a vital part of our nation's security. FDR pushed through the merchant marine act of 1936 and it states: "The United States shall have a merchant marine...[to] serve as a naval or military auxiliary in time of war or national emergency...[and] should be operated by highly trained and efficient citizens of the United States and that the United States Navy and the Merchant Marine of the United States should work closely together to promote the maximum integration of the total seapower forces of the United States..." Kram got it right, they are different models. The 2-bladed helicopter on the left is a Bell 206 and the 4-bladed one on the right is a Bell 407 which I guess is the hot-rod of helicopters. Kind of like the difference between a 308 GTB and a 288 GTO.
777-200LR, the blue one, will connect virtually any two major cities in the world nonstop FULLY LOADED, flying faster and burning 25% less fuel per seat than the nearest competitor. Air France is soon to take delivery of their 35th 777 (like the one in the bottom picture), flying a mix of -200's and -300's. Must be doing something right..................................... I'll bite, I just happened to have my camera on me today and took some shots for you guys.. Here's my office (a bit disorganized now that I look at it), a hallway in the hotel (they're the same on each of the 12 floors), partial view of our meeting room & a close-up of the view from the same room. Keep in mind that the meeting room is on the FIRST floor; I was going to go up to the Penthouse but ran out of time. -Chris Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
