and I tought I was doing a lot of work.....what I'm up to is nothing compared to this.... Awesome thread, read the whole thing!
Thanks mate!! Looks stunning and the PERFECT combo! Red/tan/tan 6 speed manual. When you are ready to sell, let me know. Congrats and enjoy Paul. She is a beauty my friend.
Funny you should say that I got the garage to put it on the ramp and pull the wheels off, and i was thinking i could get all these nuts and bolts re-plated clean up the shocks etc
Thanks PAP After working on the 348 for 6 years it will be nice to get behind the wheel of a Ferrari.
Sorry Paul, I can't stand by and watch you post lies on this thread. The truth is you've spent all these years converting your 348 into a 430 replica!!! Can you send me the design specs please.
Dam my secret is out Sy ! Here is some photos of the finished car sorry replica Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Oh, that's not soap. A flock of vindictive birds flew overhead and targeted his car. Most unfortunate. It took him over 92 hours of dedicated cleaning (and weeping) to get it all off the paintwork. I think he parks it indoors now. All the best, Andrew.
Hi there, know this was asked a while back but just incase you're still wondering...... That's what's referred to as Snow Foam. You apply it by putting a small attachment on your pressure washer called a snow foam lance and it covers your car in a white foam. This lifts a large amount of the dirt off prior to you washing the car as normal which reduces the chances of dirt particles scratching the paint when you wash. Pretty much every detailer over here in the uk uses it (as do I). Although some have said it doesn't work that well, I find if you snow foam your car, wait 5 mins then rinse, snow foam again, then rinse (only takes a couple of minutes to apply) the car is all but clean and you haven't risked any swirls. Then wash your car as normal. Worth having a pretty waxy car to begin with but works very well for me Anyway Paul, hope all is well with you. Have to catch up sometime. My 348 is in the middle of having a complete interior retrim. Seem to recall you were thinning about the same to finish yours off. Will let you know how it goes.
I had forgotten this post, so thanks for the reply. I have learned about this method recently and it completely makes sense. I spent a good 12-14 hours machine polishing my 348 and I don't want to re-swirrel with bad wash habits.
No problem. Just had my 348 'tarted up' a tad so want to protect that too. Was thinking of throwing a thread up showing the results, will do that now.
Sorry for the lack of up-dates from me. I have been working in the 348 but there is not much to show, been fitting all the trim back in that was taken out 6 + years ago so been a bit of a struggle. I have been busy with the seats (sneak photos attached) i cannot start to tell you the about of work i have put into fitting these seats, getting them trimmed and hours and hours of work modifying the car to get them to fit in the cabin, i will post more photos when i get them back from the trimmers but i think it will be worth it. Not got that much left to do, this is not the complete list but not far off . Tyre pressure . Wheel bolt torque . Fit carbon sill covers . Set head light aim . Fit seats (just need them back from the trimmers) . Bolt is steering wheel . Fit front licence plate Then i can take the car for it MOT test and then onto have the 4 wheel alignment/corner weighting done . Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Paul, good to see you're almost there. My car is about sorted, just getting a retrim done and she'll be sorted. Out of curiosity, did you replace thr carpets? If so would value your input on a thread I just posted up as interior retrims are a bit of a mystery to me.
Hi there Pete, yes i did buy brand new carpets from Ferrari, i cannot remember how much there were but £400 ish rings a bell, i can tell you it is not quality carpet ! i changed mine due to changing from red to black. My advice is get your cleaned unless they are worn out.
Hi there they are Recaro CS like these http://www.recaro-seats.co.uk/sport-seats/cross-sportster-cs.php I can tell you though i have had a lot of work done to them, will post more photos soon
Hi Paul. Mine are a bit faded in places, not bad but not perfect. I'm torn between getting replacements from Ferrari (but it would have to be the lot and I thought it was quite a bit more than £400) and letting my trimmer do it himself. I know that way it would be better quality carpet as I'll be choosing it and, as I said, I'm not overly concerned with originality. It's the moulded parts that are making me pause for thought. Anyway, cheers for that, will think on it.
More photos would be really interesting to see. I would like to consider this seats for some future projects, for 348 I'm searching for OMP AMS seats with kevlar looking back. Not affialated in any way with this company and the price is high but for my own project I want to look deeper in the matter. http://reoriginals.com/upholstery_51.aspx
