I have recently taken my 812 for repairs with 2 well-reproducible issues to 2 separate dealerships:

    1. one of the brakes produces friction when I'm not braking, i.e. when I'm rolling with the car it makes noise when I don't push the pedal.
    2. the electric mirror forgets it's reverse position and stops moving after a while.

Both dealerships said the car is all OK and they can't find anything and gave me a bill. When I showed them that the issues are still present they kept bullshitting left and right and refused to do a follow up. The car by the way is under full factory warranty.

What's going on? I have the impression that there is a directive from Ferrari to push back on issues as long as they should be covered by the warranty.

Ferrari pays poorly for warranty work and in most cases mechanics are only paid for billable hours. If a cause is not immediately known there is a strong incentive to say "No fault found" and get it out of your stall so you can make some money.

Ferrari doesn't pay any labor time for diagnosis under warranty, only for the labor to replace a defective part. There is no incentive to diagnose issues that are not directly related to a defective part that can be replaced.
Your issues are considered money losers in the Ferrari dealership world.

Hence the steadily increasing hourly labor rate for customer pay jobs. Its just subsidizing Ferraris warranty system.

What prevents a misdiagnosis to replace a part to make some money?

Parts are returned to Ferrari. If they feel the part is OK they are quite happy to deny the claim and return the part. I had entire transmissions that were replaced with prior approval and test driven by factory reps to confirm it was bad and have the claim denied because they felt the transmission was OK. Its not really all that unusual.

I never surprises me when I hear of dissatisfaction with warranty repairs.
