Where is the best place to get a workshop manual for a 430? there are lots of websites claiming to sell them but many seem rather dodgy.
You should be ok downloading the workshop manual even from the dodgy websites. I think there's only one version of the 430 WSM floating around, despite the wide range of prices. Just make sure they don't send you the Owners Manual by mistake. The filesize should be around 191Mb. The wiring diagram manual is a different matter. You could pay up to $300 for rather blurry, black and white, error-ridden OEM scanned diagrams. There are no cheap solutions (unless I've already converted some of the blurry ones into colour versions)
There seems to be an online site where some service manual are available for free. It was from some eastern european Ferrari club, Czech Republic if I remember correctly. So maybe you are lucky and can find it when you google for "ferrari club", perhaps throw in "cz" for good measure. I guess its worth a try
https://en.ferrari-club.cz/manual_download.php?id=399 Fast download costs a few Euros. Slow download (26 minutes) needs some kind of registration. Volunteers required to see if this is dodgy or not Filesize seems to be ok.
I got the workshop manual for the modena from there. No unpleasant surprises, but i used a throwaway email address for registration. P.S.: i was not sure if posting links here is ok
Look for a cd around £12, they give lots of info with pictures. If you get stuck i will see if possible to copy mine for you. . It does not have wiring diagrams . Paper workshop manual is huge
