Hi all, Looking to have the major service completed on my new to me Ferrari 348. I’ve read a few older threads here, and it seems like some shops are no longer around. I’ve narrowed down to look at Racing Red and Corsa Veloce. Are they still popular choices? If there are other recommendations in Sydney, that would be great please! Thank you
Thanks both, sounds like Sal is a popular one here. It’s certainly not going to be everyone’s flavour for a Ferrari, but this is how it’s arrived to me. Someone in Japan made some creative styling choices! Despite that, condition wise (paint and interior) it’s in really great shape which was a pleasant surprise, and it also came with the original wheels too Lots of options about where I take it from here, but getting a proper major service done is my first step. They aren’t, the original wheels were included separately as spares. The body trim and wing are divisive m, and definitely not original though! I suspect I’ll be removing them at some point in the future though.
Definitely got the JDM look about it! Any pics from the rear end? Thanks for sharing man, have fun with it.
Sure does! Appreciate it, I’m really looking forward to putting more mileage on it Judging by your username, it sounds like you might have one as well. Do you have any photos too? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
What a beast! Yes, I've owned my (neglected) 348 for 19 years this year. Here is the most recent picture of it from September last year. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ian was not impressed that Pap didn't bother with a back, sac and crack wax before he jumped in the spa
Congratulations on the 348. A ticket to a world of pain! I cannot suggest the best place to take your 348 for maintenance in Sydney. I am not sure about the previous history, however if you're planning on a "major" that's an engine out. Make sure, whilst the engine is out you don't simply change the cam belt. You should also: replace water pump replace tensioner bearing (for the cam belt) check the valve clearances and head torque (this is almost never performed, it's very important) have a good look at the engine mounts probably replace the hoses at the front of the engine, at the firewall depending upon how broke you are after the above, you might want to consider tidying up the engine bay. I also have a 348. 1992 348 TS #92561 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Pap, I think we need a 348 thread
I went a little further and replaced shocks, all hoses (that can be expensive), all insulation in the engine bay, new gearbox plates and new MOTEC unit, sparkplugs and leads, new brake rotors These bloody cars can run to bigger numbers , latest major service runs just north of $20k That 348 of yours looks spectacular
