Possibly the best race track in the world (for bikes) just had a new resrufacing which eliminated many bumps and sketchy grip areas. Ducati's Carlos Checa was on pole with a time that would have placed him second on the MotoGP grid last fall, albeit before the track was resurfaced so impossible to compare. GP will probably be in the 1:28 range when they race there later this year, mind-bogglingly fast to think what a 28 would be around Phillip Island.

Anyway, if interested here are the complete videos (Beinsports will be streaming them live this year w/o commercials. Almost overdosed on all the coverage including WSS).

Unbelievable. These guys are so good.

Question: Is this the same track Cal Rayborn died at?

Rayborn dies at Pukekohe in New Zealand. Phillip Island is Australia. Many consider it to be the best motorcycle track in the world.

World Superbike raced in New Zealand early on ('88-89 IIRC), but that was at manfield instead of Pukekohe.
