Wanted to pass along my take on this film. Cynthia and I saw it the other night and we both loved it. Even if motorcycles or the Salt Falts are of no interest to you this film will make you laugh and shed a tear or two. It is a wonderful film about a mans quest to fullfill a lifelong dream, and Anthony Hopkins is outstanding.

Anyway- if you get a chance check it out.

Did you see the blurb in the latest Autoweek? It goes on to tell how hollywood screwed this all up. How that guy in the movie did go fast, but never set the record etc etc.

    figures...

I'll go check it out, might be fun.

I did not not read what Autoweek had to say but Burt Munro did set the motorcycle S-F record in 1967 at 183 mph, it still stands. At the end of the film it did go on to say that he went back nine times and set other record, I don't know if that is true or not. The film was done by a New Zealand outfit but as you would expect there was most likely a bit of 'poetic' license taken.

Hey, a New Zealanders here. I never knew this film was playing in other countries? Is it well known, or just another small film?

It was huge in NZ. The books came out, then doco's on TV, and the replica of the vehicle at the museum. Its amazing how the record still stands considering he forged his own parts, and no big budget Americans(or others) have beaten it yet.

It's just has been released to US theatres........I thought Autoweek in this case was a little off the mark....

Bad weather here so I'll try to catch it and give you the full Bubba Review.

It's supposed to be entertainment, if you want facts use your encyclopedia!

I'm STILL waiting to see Miss Madison...it kind of died on the vine..........

I saw somewhere that it was only showing in three theatres in the DFW area. Makes it a little harder to find, but I've heard it's worth it. Especially for most of the types that hang around Fchat.
