I am looking to buy an absolutely terrible Ferrari. It can be rusty, burned, or lightly wrecked. Missing engine is OK. Missing body panels are also OK. No interior? No problem! It's been submerged in salt water? I don't care!

It does need to roll, so suspension should be complete. Hopefully it would have brake calipers present.

If you have, or know of, a car like this, please let me know!

I have zero affiliation with this. Just remember seeing your listing and sure sounds like one of the worst ferraris ever.

I'm planning on building the first Ferrari in the 24 Hours of LeMons series, which I've been participating in for a decade or so. If you're not familiar with them, you should be.

Basically, I want to do the reverse of all those terrible "Ferrari" body kits people used to put on Pontiac Fieros.

So, the plan is to find a horrible Ferrari, and install the Pontiac engine and transmission... and then remove as many Fiero body panels as possible and install them (poorly) on the Ferrari shell.

It's all for a laugh. It won't be fast. It won't look good. But it needs to be an actual Ferrari, at least at the core.

Mondial 8 should be near the top of your list. Check with Bill Young at GT Parts in Phoenix.

I agree, that is the ideal candidate, and most likely to be found in this type of condition.

Doesn't the value of the car have to be like $500 or less, not including safety gear? I heard something like that, but don't recall specifics or maybe I'm wrong, but I thought there was something in the regs designed to keep the value of the car down. I love your idea, but wouldn't even a junk Ferrari be "too valuable"? Genuinely curious to see how you make out!

No I would say a water logged savaged title high mileage California as long as it still ran. At least it should last the race.

The $500 rule is pretty flexible. The organizers will strictly enforce it for a car which is obviously able to contend for the win (Miatas, E36s, etc). But if you bring a car which has obvious performance disadvantages (like an Iron Duke-powered Ferrari) they will laugh and pay absolutely zero attention to your budget. As with everything else in Lemons, it's all about fun.

That’s great to hear, I just wasn’t sure how that worked. At first I took your thread title with a grain of salt, but best of luck finding what would actually be The World’s Worst Ferrari!

A few years back I raced 24 hours of Lemons in a Porsche - a 924 - and it was pretty good. We finished in the top 10 and it was a pretty good experience.

What you need to do is not find a terrible car and build up (which I don’t think would be possible) but find an intact mondial 8 for $20k and sell all the valuable parts to get it down to sub $500 and then rebuild with all of the good safety bits (brakes and such) that you have carte blanche for. That’s how you make this work, imho.

    Here’s what I raced.

I am sure somebody at Ferrari North America can sort you out with a Purosangre.
You won't need to do anything to it, and victory will be guaranteed...
