If this title was the “Unluckiest Sports City,” it would be Houston hands down. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Paul. Booking my opening day tickets soon. April 9. Before the Patriots became the Yankees this was the biggest game in town.
6-5 in Super Bowls isn't that good? Remind me of who else has been to 11 of them please... Possibly, if you consider the NFL team, the U of H basketball team back in the 80's... Then again, how has the season ended for the SAINTS the last two years? Fluke TD against Minnesota, and no-call against the Rams...
The game is 60 minutes long, not one play. The Saints horrendous defense vs Minny last season on that last drive, and kicking field goals instead of TDs plus late game questionable offensive play calling vs LAR this season are the only reasons they lost.
Hmmmm.... London? In the USA, I cannot think of any, some will say San Antonio, but there are already two teams in Texas. San Diego? St Louis? Oakland in 2 years? There are some other cities, but the problem is some of those cities are emancing college teams, and would never support a pro team, let alone financing the construction of a stadium. Boise Salt Lake City Lincoln Oklahoma City Alabama Portland
A London franchise does not need to happen. I do not think it would be good for the NFL. Not to mention the 8 games that franchise would have to fly across the pond for. Intercontinental travel would eventually become a disadvantage and could even have ramifications of unfair play.
Portland SLC San Antonio IDK about Orlando Wouldn't include SD, St. Louis or Oakland since franchises already bailed on them. London travel/Brexit/time zone difference for live TV on West Coast etc may be cost prohibitive.
Thank you for the endorsement Paul but if I was picking I'd choose Steelton PA. Home of the high school with the greatest team name in the history of the sports world: The Steelton Steamrollers!
I think St Louis' days as an NFL city are gone forever. (btw, STL was in the race to get the expansion franchise that ultimately went to JAX; STL screwed the pooch in various ways with their bid(s) )
Yeah. Sad. Especially with the festivities they had planned for the 50th Anniversary of the Miracle Mets this summer. T
Nah, that would be a joke. I live here, nobody supports ANY team other than Creighton basketball (Omaha) or University of Nebraska-Lincoln Husker football or volleyball. And Creighton basketball - only as long as they are winning. We can't even keep a semi-pro or minor league team going, we have a AAA baseball team, the only way they fill the stands is if a major league 'star' comes here for a few rehab games (Alex Gordon) We had a decent Junior League hockey game - used to fill a 5,000 seat arena - WHEN the ticket prices were $4-5.00, I was told now they are $18.00+ (people here simply don't 'spend' to go to athletic events here) On top of that the University of Nebraska-Omaha started a collegiate hockey team, those are not cheap tickets either, and they draw fans from the Lancers. Semi-pro and indoor football, minor league basketball - just never 'stuck'.
