My 612 is back on ebay....
The 612 is moving down each month and may slow down later this summer. It will level off like the 456's which are also a great buy. If you expect the 612's to drop below 80K retail in the next several years I think you may be mistaken. Anyhow, they are great values in the low 120's-140's(or lower)and we should feel very luck to be picking them up at that price.
+1 Why wait? It's not like 456s can go too much lower than they are now. Buy the 456, drive it for three years, sell it for about what you paid, and see what 612 prices are like then. Sure, you'll be out a few grand on maintenance costs with the 456, but you will have owned a great Ferrari.
man, why the hell not? it is a gift at these prices. i gotta stay off this board. it's gunna cost me.
In the UK a 2004 612 just went to auction and top price offered was £56k which is about $80k - there is some info about it on pistonheads.com
Yes but that's completely irrelevant for US buyers. We could quote Australian prices or in Singapore where they are almost 3x as much. The only relevant "foreign" price that might be of any value is Dubai, since a lot of cars there are US-spec and VIN and as a result should be easily imported. Exotics there are, to say the least, very cheap.
I've looked at the car today. Great car! Perfect. The owner is a very nice gentleman. Now the question is, would you be willing to spend a few lousy thousands more to acquire this one, or to spend a few lousy thousand less, to purchase another perfect car, but not the color you really like. Well, we all have the answer(s). But, please, no "life is too short" or "money is nothing" cliche.
I've been out of the 612 loop since the GranSport last summer. What are the ranges right now? Early last summer it was $170k on low end for decent cars and the rare $140-150k high mileage car. My guess that market is now $100k for high mileage cars and $140k low end for nice cars.
well, today the occasional is now the norm. see 612s for 140ish all over the place. give it 18 months, and it might be in the 80s. that will be the buy of the decade. but what do i know?
A lot of car for the money, with factory quoted performance nearly identical to my 575M, and room for four. Hopefully the replacement will have the chain drive of the 599 instead of belts like the 575s. Taz Terry Phillips
thats what i thought. i was told, that the engine bay compartment is to small, to place the 599 engine there. but u r absolutely wright--no chain, no gain )
Quick update. I thought Rosso a la Red is not for me, especially on GTs, and I trust that I would never buy one, but I am about to get one. It is actually Rosso Fiorano. Very dark and very deep red. I had a chance to compare with the Grigio Ingrid one, and was amazed to learn that this Rosso Fiorano really makes the car subtle, exciting, and still low key. Compared the two, side by side, I may say, the silver one looks quite boring and indifferent, although Silver/ Grigio Ingrid is my most favorite color on Ferrari (due to its low key appearance). However, I personally think Silverstone is the best color on 612. I thought I would buy whatever on the market (except Red), regardless of the seller, as long as it is cheap, and of course has to be under 120K, but I ended up buying from an authorized dealer, way over 120K, and still under factory warranty since it is 2006. So, since I am the one who started this thread, I would like to end my thread today, that is after a while searching for 612s under 120K, please allow me to say, yes, you may find a couple of 612s under 120K, but you really get what you pay for. To me, it is not worth it. Next year or maybe just a few more months, someone may start a thread checking if 612s be around 100K, it is then another similar story.
Congratulations! Which car did you buy? I saw a few dark metallic reds on ebay and autotrader. Sabbia, beige and cuoio interiors, IIRC.
It was the one that listed on Ebay a few days ago (listing was taken off this morning as I've just checked). When I inquired, I realized that it was listed by the the wholesale department of the same authorized dealer which I bought my other Ferrari, so the transaction was very simple and quick. I fully agreed with you that this kind of Rosso color is completedly different than the normal red that you see on coupes. Really deep and dark.
Actually it was owned by Ferrari of Newport Beach. I first looked at the car but was not certain about the color, the car then was "consigned" to DC Motors. I came back 2 days later and decided to go ahead with the color, so FoNB had to take the car back and honored the priced that they first offered to me, although there were other offers with a couple of thousands higher than mine, that's why the car was sent to the other dealer. In addition, other parties have to wait for the bank approvals.
