I purchased a F430 Spider last summer and it has exceeded all of my expectations. It has also gotten me interested in buying another exotic for no other reason other than they are just too much fun to drive. I also have a 2005 Porsche Turbo S. Now to my question (my experience has been that everyone here is quite knowledgable and willing to help when asked - even for non-Ferrari questions). I was thinking of trading in the Porsche and getting a Lamborghini (either a Gallardo or Murcielago). Does anyone have one and if so what are your impressions. As I said previously, my F430 is my dream car. Just looking for another machine to cut loose in. Any thoughts, pro or con, would be welcome and thanks in advance.

Disclaimer: I have never driven either make.

I'm not too sure, but I would think that a Diablo or Gallardo would be too similar in terms of refinement to your current car. Perhaps vary it up in terms of rawness and make? A Ford GT or a Diablo perhaps for a different feel and sound?

I know you just came from a Porsche, but maybe even a Carrera GT if you can swing it. Of course, if I were in your situation I would just save my money and get the ultimate, a F-40 and consider yourself one of the luckiest SOBs on the planet :) They will probably be fetching several million by the time I can afford one. Especially if you consider the cost of a Mr. Fusion energy converter :)

Also, there are tons of comparisons between the two makes and just about every model you could imagine if you do a quick search.

i have seen pictures of the new gallardo (LP 560-4) it looks absolutely stunning! still a gallardo but what an amazing
    redesign!!!!

but i also think too similar to 430, i'd go for a 599 or scaglietti.

    nice dilemma you're in...

I owned a F430 and test drove the Gallardo. Thery are very, if not too similiar so adding a G wouldn't really make much sense IMHO. Try one of the earlier Murcielagos, it's a completely different driving experience.
Have you considered buying a Lotus?

I would also suggest you check out an Lotus -- perhaps the new Exige 240S or an Elise SC. I have an Elise and it's a blast to drive.

This was also Jeremy Clarkson's opinion when he recently test drove them side by side. The Ferrari is a bit more refined, the Gallardo a bit more fun. But very little in it.

If you're keen on a Lambo, the Diablo VT 6.0 or the Murcielago would be good choices for a "blat-in-the-hills" kinda car.

Lotuses are tremendous fun but make for a completely different experience. If you want something lithe and chuckable, a Lotus an excellent choice.

I've got the Gallardo and have driven the F430. The Gallardo is a bit more raw of a driving experience. Heavier steering, shifting that requires more effort and more sound. The awd gives it incredible cornering. But the others are right in that it is still not distinctive enough from the F430 unless you get the spyder which for me did provide a different experience. There's a 355gts on the way so that I can enjoy some open air driving.

How about looking at one of the 12 cylinder classics? That's my next move. Perhaps a 365gtb/4 or the 365gtc. No computers or fuel injection. Personally I am starting to steer away from the rocket sled type of experience. I'd like to spend some time in each gear enjoying the ride. A winding road with 340 hp in a light, old-school car seems like more fun to me than a 600 hp technological marvel.

we need more info on what you want to do with it. do you want to go old school? do you want modern? i agree with the other guys on the gallardo. i have driven both and they are similar driving experience, but you already have the better one. i think twelve cylinder gt is a good way to go. i just did that. i have a 328 and just got a diablo.

I currently own a F430, Gallardo and 997TT. They are all great cars, but it's hard to top the F430.

Try a Murcielago. Great cars. The V12 has incredible torque.
