I found a brand new (never sold) 2005, 575 F1 at my local Ferrari dealership, priced at MSRP. My question is ..... should I consider buying one of the last available examples of the 575 model ..... I wonder if this car will have accellerated depresiation because of the replacement model that should arrive within a year or so. I currently have a 2000, 550 which I love ... and I see myself owning either a 550 or 575 for the forseeable future. I do like the idea of having one of the last examples of this model, as well as one that I purchased new .... but I don't know if the few remaining 575's still on dealer showrooms have become hard to sell. I know how difficult it is to buy just about any new Ferrari from a dealer (unless you have clout with them), so I wonder why this 575 is still there, unsold. The salesman seemed very willing to sell me this car. I have yet to make a decision .... before doing so, I welcome everyone's opinion, pro and con.

Not at MSRP. THink on the ground with low miles in many colors for far less than MSRP. IIRC, Steve Harris has a black/black 05 HGTC with low miles asking 20K back of sticker. That is a nice car. Check FNA site for ballpark on cars out there. I wouldn't trade a good 550 for a 575. Or a Superamerica. 550 is a keeper. But if you want new, for 575 MSRP, get on list for Imola and wait a little.

A dtealer with a new 575 for sale would expect factory support to offload. I'd be looking at 15-20% dicount off list min.

You should start at invoice, you are getting a bad deal if you pay msrp. I remember last summer a dealer was offering a new 575 for invoice and I think he would have taken less for it. The 575 was no limited production model, so the last few cars will have no significance in the future.

Even if you were able to steal that 575, I don't think it would be worth purchasing at this time. The depreciation will be huge when it's replacement comes out.Get on the waiting list for the replacement. In the meantime buy a nice used 550 and sell it when your "600" gets in .

I have an 04 575, and I love it. If I were you and you were not interested in buying a 600, I'd try and make the best deal I could on either that or another 575. If the 05 has everything you wnt then I'd do it. I'm sure the 600 will be a faster more powerful car, and I'm not saying I wont end up with one, but the 575 has more power than I get to use 95% of the time. In my mind at least it is the best all around GT car on the market.

    Good points on pricing.

I think the biggest factor is how long you plan to keep it. If you're looking to have it 4+ years and you like the 575, then go for it. People tend to put too much (blind) faith in the new model IMO. The 600 could look like a dog's ass in your opinion when it comes out, which would make a decision to put a deposit down on it now, etc. pretty poor in hindsight.

Or, you could just keep the 550 a little longer and wait for the 600 to come out, and hit 575s hard. Then buy the 575. That's probably the best option financially, but I'd expect to keep the 550 until a year or two from now.

Obviously, you should negotiate a substantial discount, but I happen to think that many will be disappointed when they see the replacement in the spring. We'll see, soon.

The 550/575 is a classic, elegant design. Not so sure that will be said for its replacement. I hope the depreciation stays robust, so I can buy one myself!

    Good luck! :)

I think you'll take a big hit with the '05 at list. Offer them 200K.

The car has already depreciated substantially, even before it's sold. Either you or the dealer will take the hit. Think of it like that. They are great cars, but they don't hold their value whatsoever. We've had a couple of painful lessons on that up in our area as people bought/sold their 575s. It's great for me because I plan on being on the receiving end for a 575 when I get done with my 550 (which also will take a large hit). - Tim

575s (and 612s) have always been a tough sell. Don't believe the myth that you can't buy a new Ferrari from a dealer unless you have clout with them. That is true in regard to the 430, but total BS on any V-12 car. Trust me, any Ferrari dealer in the country would love to sell you a 575 or 612.

The thing you need to consider is the depreciation hit you will take. It will be SERIOUS, whether you buy at MSRP or less. If you are willing to absorb a $100k + hit when you go to sell it, go ahead and buy it.

Alternatively, if you plan to keep it forever (or at least 10 years), the depreciation may not make that much of a difference to you.

If I were ever to buy a new 612, the only way I could justify it would be if I planned to own it at least 10 years. Otherwise, the depreciation is just too painful!

Ask for 10% discount and earliest possible delivery on the 600.Eventually some roller is going to cut that kind of deal. The dealer will not loose because he hold's the key's to future allocation.

The Maranello is a beautiful car, if you buy a new one make sure you buy it at a nice discount, as you can see the modern 12cyls have taken substantial hits.

Thanks for your comments .... basically what I was already thinking, hence my reason for asking for everyones opinion. Sounds like I'm better off staying with my 550.
