Currently looking at mid ninties models with a serious view to buying one. Right now there are several cars I am interested in, one is a 1994 VT with just 15000 miles, but have yet to get it inspected, the other is a 1998 SV with 35000 miles for approx 8K sterling pounds more than the 94VT. The SV is a high spec car with Se30 side skirts, and full VT style leather interior and sound system. Just unsure about how easy a higher miles car will be to sell on at a later stage. Really like to hear some advice on this one

My friend has a couple of lambos, seems to think the reliability is excellent even with high miles. Just make sure the maintainence is up to date.

I did not like the power steering boost on the Diablo. You may like the early 91/92/93 car, with the manual steering. The 98+ car has much better brakes.

The early car is less weight, manual steering, no awd, and no lift system etc... The SV is also 2wd.

The early cars, are the performance world bargain ! A true Italian 200mph exotic, for approx $75K +/-.

If you look into the early cars, make sure the chain tensioner, has been updated. You should also check the clutch and head gaskets etc...

so the VT's are more prone to shock absorber problems? Is that because of the lift system? I could care less about the lift system....

i'd never recommend using it....not sure why lambo used such poor quality seals on these things. both of my front shocks just got replaced for around 5k...

I currently own a Ferrari but have always had a soft spot for the Diablo. So I lurk around on this forum quite a bit. I would love to get an early Diablo but I'm just a blue collar guy and haven't saved enough pennies yet. Maybe some day though.....

ORANGE 6.0VT: OMG what a gorgeous car !!!!

he really struck a goldmine/jackpot with that car. I'd be hard pressed to find a better looking Diablo 6.0... Maybe in 7 years the value will come down a bit!! :D:D:D

steve, back to your inquiry....(sorry for the unintended hijacking). that's a beautiful car. black looks so ominous...and stealth.

i'd not be adverse to buying a high milage car. its service history and conditions are more important...

agree-d about the service history, but is that car not blue?

It looks good (i am not a fan of blue however), but whats up with the light on the front right?

also i think all that it needs to modernise it a little is to remove that rear spoiler and it removes some of the dated look IMO.

No probs Tom, your car is stunning though, have seen that colour in real life and its amazing. A 6.0 would suit me just fine, but just dont want to stretch that far as i am keeping my Pantera, and also not ruling out the possibility of buying another Boxer in the near future to replace the one I have just sold.
As for the rear spoiler Bjorn, why try to update a car that dates from a different era of car design, I would prefer to keep the car looking as it was when it was new.
The car that looks like the best bet is the same as this one, a 98SV but in scurro blue with snowcorn hide, colour coded rear panel and full alpine sound system. My only reservation is the mileage at 36k but it has a rock solid history and recent service and clutch. I can buy it for the same asking price as the blue 96VT(29k miles) in the previous post, Which you guys think???

I've never owned a Lamborghini but I'll put in my input anyways. Usually Italian cars that have been more regularly driven and serviced tend to be more reliable. The garage queens that have sat around for months and even years at a time are not optimal if you plan on driving them or care about reliability.

The feel of the SV is like none of the VT cars, feels more nimble, more fun to drive imho. Dollar for dollar, I'd say SV hands down every time. Plus the recent service should be reassuring, and that blue VT looks a bit tatty with the foglight falling out and those polished wheels (not my taste).
Actually, reading over, keep in mind that the wheels on that VT may not have been perfectly size matched, and you could be looking at a new front diff sooner than you'd like. Avoid the headache and go SV!
