We often here of vintage Ferraris having been repainted to another color for whatever reason. I've seen a red 365 that was originally Blue Serra.... Has anyone considered repainting their modern f-car to another color ? What would the drop in value really signify?

Only if the original paint is too damaged to restore, and even then I would still try to duplicate the original factory colour. Very unlikely to want to consider a non-original colour unless it was hot pink from the factory.

I wouldn't have any issues painting it to a colour of my preference.

For instance, if I was to by a CS today but couldn't find one in Rosso Scuderia, I'd buy the best one and paint it. Sorted.

    It completely depends.

My ex-330 GTC was originally a pale blue-grey with blue leather interior. After 14 years it was repainted by the 1st owner to white with black bumpers (don't ask me why!) and given black interior. Then repainted again in resale red 3 years later. The owner before me did a full restoration and chose Blu Sera with the black interior. It was absolutely gorgeous, and I completely support his decision.

I had a 365BB in red which was not the original colour. My plan was to restore it to its original Blu Dino Met, which after I sold it happened. She looks gorgeous now.

My 550 is Porsche Nightblue metallic, which is the original (special order) colour. I would never, ever change it. But I will respray her fairly soon.

My 458 I've ordered from new in unique Nero Stellato/Rosso Maranello combination that I am absolutely in love with and I would never change it.

In short, I usually would stick with the original colour. But there are legitimate exceptions. For models where there are plenty made, I would feel less inhibited to changing it.

One thing - if you do respray it, it must be flawless. Windows out, interior out, spend the money and get the result the car deserves (and never got from Ferrari in the first place....).

Legitimate exceptions... I like that... If you spec a car, you are obviously going to order the color you want from the get go... Take me for instance, my first two Ferraris were red because that's what I wanted, but when I went for the 599, red wasn't exactly my first choice...Being that I buy preowned doesn't leave me with much choice unless I research and wait for the right spec to present itself(Not patient enough, life's too short). This being my third Ferrari and a GT to boot, I saw more of TDF or Grigio Silverstone... My HGTE being a one owner pristine example is the only 599 HGTE sold new in Quebec back in 2010... In fact there are less than 7 599's for sale in all of Canada, so they are quite rare. I bought the car even though it's Rosso Corsa because I still find it beautiful and I set a new benchmark for myself in the ownership experience... However, lingering in back of my mind I wish it were another color sometimes... I had the roof wrapped in silver to break the red... Get tons of compliments for it, but still... If I think that I would keep the car long term, I think I would seriously consider a full respray in TDF or Rosso Fuoco... I would spare no expense to do this right and I know the body shop equipped to do it... When I drove my 360's I knew they weren't long term keepers, but the 599 is like wow this is it...

As an aside, 20 years ago I bought a 1964 Alfa Giulia spider that was a burgundy exterior on beige interior... I decided to do a complete restoration ( still in progress) because of rust issues in the rocker panels and to my amazement as I stripped the paint off I discovered that the original color of the car was a mat greyish blue and then after doing some research found out the correct interior for that period and color was black ! So, I decided to restore the car back to its original color but with a red on black interior... The point of all this is that someone liked the car to keep long enough that they changed the color scheme to suit their tastes... This happened often 40 years + ago, I just wondered if it still happens today..

A big reason I chose my car was the Dino Blu color. I'd never change it.

Any pics of the Blu BB?

I'd wrap it, leaving the original color underneath.
