What you say does not make sense at all... the one holding the most records is allways the only one of his kind... I do not see what Lewis´ ethnicity will change about that???
I find it strange that there is so often the accusation of racism when someone does see a difference in skin colours but then at the same time it is pointed out that Lewis is "one of his kind" and has to be seen different because of his skin colour...

 

You said it, and you repeated it. Do you reed what you post? I find your comments pretty disgusting to be fair, to single out Elton because of his race, to suggest he is the only one of ‘his kind’... I doubt your hero would be impressed if he read that you see his race as a big hindrance to others. His results would be the same yellow, white, black or purple, he is a driver in the Mercedes. He does not hold the most championships, so what else could you refer to, the record of him being the only one of his kind to win championships, that is what you meant. Disgusting

 

Its the same for every ethnicity in F1, If Schumi was the first of his kind, it would be great. Perez is the only of his kind currently in F1, its great, nothing wrong with that. I see it as a positive thing for F1. If its disgusting to you, that's your problem.

 

Really? You can’t see why your opinion is offensive? That’s sad really. The world has moved on since the days when people were judged in their limitations by their culture, race, sex or orientation, time to wake up to it.

Elton is an f1 driver, no different to any other that has achieved the journey to F1. Whatever records he sets are just records, exactly the same as those of anyone else achieving them, the world isn’t a place anymore where he should be defined in history for anything in f1 bar his records. That’s the world that it is today, you’ll just have to accept it and live with it.

When I supported Ayrton, it didn’t occur to me to care if he was Brazilian or not, I wanted him to win because he was the best and most exciting, when Michael came along, I couldn’t give a damn that he was German, and smashing the brits every weekend, never occurred to me to be xenophobic and support the like of loser Hill, or Mansell, or any other driver. Alonso is Spanish, but I couldn’t care less, nor even whether he is Catalan or Spanish which apparently they’d like to be two countries not the one. LeClerc is a Monagasque, but do we talk about it like it’s good or bad? No, of course we don’t. In all the above cases, what they looked like was immaterial, it was their skills, their talent, their spirit, that gained fans attention.

In Elton’s case, while his driving is good, he himself promotes a self image that to many people is abhorrent, wrong, or just plain dumb. I’ll never support him even if somehow ferrari lowered their standards and hired him, my love for the marque would be the same, but I would cheer on the second car.

If he achieves more records than others, good luck to him, but I won’t be worshipping him, but that won’t be because he is of his ‘kind’ as you put it, it will be because I don’t fall for bare statistics that don’t get adjusted for rules that favour his car and not others, nor a team that promotes his interests to the detriment of any teammate, and because I know that if he was in any other car, someone else would be taking those wins in the most dominant car in history, and that person would be winning titles while Elton was a barely mentioned footnote in a non competitive car, much like post 2008 in his McLaren

 

Does Ferrari being Italian an influence for you being a fan? would you root for them the same if they were British/German etc? Or do you careless, just want to see manufacture excellence?

 

Nope, it’s not their being Italian..... I love ferrari because of the cars they build, the type of cars, no compromises, a true race car for the road. I’m proud that they are an Italian company because they are successful and lead the world, to many Italian companies are as successful and powerful, but if they were English, Id still love the brand, they’d just be based in the UK. Luckily, they aren’t based in the Uk, as they would probably not exist anymore if they were British

 

Yes and Hamilton has taken all the records except two most wins and most WDC's from the Great MS but he has more years to come and he's off to a good start this year.

He's the first black man in F1. That's a fact and that does make him different. It's not at all racist to point that out. And for you to imply someone on here is a racist when they're clearly anything but- is beyond disgusting.

Do you not think the world has learnt from the past then? Certainly in the Uk, there is a strong movement to remove differences between cultures in all walks of life, it’s not acceptable to single out people for culture, sexuality etc. I’m not sure the internet is the best basis for deriving a study on social niceties or morals. My point relates to the one poster here indicating that Elton’s race makes him somehow different to the other drivers, that maybe he needs special attention for it? I don’t agree, he should be treated the same as everyone else, it’s not relevant to him as a driver.

When it comes to his marketing of himself, he makes his personality, his fashion sense, and his way of life a central part of supporting him, through his Instagram and the rest. Selfies in skirts, with cornrows, tattoos or whatever, therefore he invites criticism as much as he invites praise by doing so, so it is a valid point to make about him.

As for homophobia etc...... the only persons to mention that are his own fans, it was long stopped on fchat by moderators, maybe a year or even longer ago, and no one is allowed to mention Elton’s sexuality as a result, so not sure why that has been brought up?

I think you need to remember that having a thread asking such a volatile issue as Ferrari’s current enemy number one joining the team is bound to be polarising, but if the question is asked, then those that support him have to accept that those that don’t, such as myself, will have our opinions too, and they are just as valid as his loyal fans opinions

 

I take the piss out of lots of people for wearing strange outfits, having crap haircuts, having smelly breath or wearing too much makeup..... none have ever suggested it was xenophobic (a fear of foreigners, isn’t it?) nor homophobic, nor racialist.... mostly, certainly in the UK, it’s called sarcastic humour, and comedy on tv here is literally 100% sarcastic humour.
