    taken from car

A weekend visitor to Jersey City from York Haven, Pa., reported his car burglarized.

The man told police he had his 2000 Ferrari Modena parked in front of a friend's house at 194 Randolph Ave. between 5 a.m. and 4:48 p.m. on Saturday.

When he returned to the car, he found it had been broken into, and a $100,000 Audemars Piguet watch had been stolen, along with a $3,000 Alpine radio, and new Nike Jordan sneakers, reports said.

Police officers canvassed the area but could not find suspects.

A surveillance camera installed on a house on Randolph Avenue was not helpful because its view was obscured by a large tree, reports said.

I wonder if the watch was insured and now he gets a nice check from the insurance company. Hard to sell the watch in this economic environment if you need cash -- easier to get insurance money for a stolen watch at some appraised value. Something does not seem quite right here...

Yeah, just after hitting send my "BS" detector said "INSURANCE FRAUD". Who
knows - he may well have sold the watch first, the reported it stolen and
    collected twice!!

So he left his watch and shoes in the car?

Let's see - a guy from PA goes to Jersey City in his Ferrari and parks in front of someone's house. Two thoughts: 1. visiting a special friend and wanted to tip toe in without waking the babies. 2. Went to pick up some recreational medicinal products and plans on paying for them with the insurance check for the watch.

I think the sneaker thing is just thrown in as a cover to make it sound legit.
