Would you want Schumacher back at Ferrari?

  1. YES! Bring back that ol' magic! Go Michael!

  2. He's better than Massa. If he brings a WCC, I'm OK.

  3. Bad idea. He never will jell with Alonso

  4. No way. Bring us someone new and up and coming!

    'Ferrari could turn to Schumacher'

Sky Sports F1 commentator reckons sensational Ferrari return for Schumi not out of the question if Hamilton arrives at Mercedes

Ferrari may be tempted to re-sign Michael Schumacher as "a short-term fix" if they dispense with Felipe Massa's services at the end of the season, according to Sky Sports F1's David Croft.

Schumacher, now in the third year of his second coming as a F1 driver, revealed in Spa that a decision on his future would be announced in October. Since then, however, events have seemingly overtaken the seven-times World Champion with reports suggesting that Mercedes are waiting to learn if their overtures towards Lewis Hamilton will be succcesful before considering whether to retain Schumacher as Nico Rosberg's team-mate.

A transfer for Hamilton would thus seemingly signal the final end of Schumacher's twenty-one-year F1 career. However, during the build-up to this weekend's Italian GP and a Practice One session in which Schumacher set the fastest time, Crofty raised the fascinating possibility of the 43-year-old extending his time in the sport with a return to Ferrari, who he drove for across a decade until retiring first time round in 2006.

"The likelihood is that Michael would step down but there might be an opening at Ferrari for him because there is still a big question mark against Felipe Massa's career there," he added.

based on the facts that schuey is a much better driver than massa.
that put schuey in a ferrari he would push it harder than massa.
schuey has the experience, discipline, the mental toughness where unfortunatly where massa has gone down hill since hes accident.
    everybody knows that.

Dream ticket, but the Ferrari is a very different animal to the car he left, bears no real evolution from the old, remember how fisichella struggled and he was no mug, massa may be less aggressive than he was, but he is still a very fast driver. I appreciate everyone says massa is rubbish, but he really isn't that bad, no worse than any of the other second tier drivers, the accident took that extra percentage he had, but whether Michael could acclimatise quickly?

This is the problem with modern f1. A few years ago, he cold come, test hard at Fiorano, and be ready. Expecting him to come over and have three tests then race in a dog of a car? Too far even for the schu maybe?

Have you followed F1 this season? Or only tuned in for the Monza GP which you missed?

    You can't be serious.

Rosberg walks all over Massa in ability and Schumacher has walked on Rosberg this season. Let's not start this again, so come on

I'd rather see Schumi working on developping the car and testing.

But there is practically no testing these days.

The latest rumours I'm hearing are suggesting Heiki as Massa's replacement.

That would be my take. I'd like to see Schumacher wear a red jersey and cap the rest of his life.

I dont think Mercedes will force Schumacher out, I think its Schumacher's call. He is clearly the better driver on the team, but from the teams perspective does dropping your #1 driver for another team's #1 get you any closer to a WCC when your #2 driver still struggles to finish in the points.

From Ferrari's perspective, its been several years since they have won a WCC, masa has been little help in that department, they need a top five driver in order to make that happen and schumacher might be their best available option.

You do know that Nico's got about the twice the points of the Schu, right? [83 to 43 as of today.] OK, we can (and do! ;)) make excuses and for sure he's been terribly unlucky, but I'd hardly say the Nico "struggles to score points" at Merc.

+1 I'd *love* to see it, but don't think we will.

    Cheers,
    Ian

I think it would be intriguing, I would much rather have MS than a Heikki that is for sure. Plus it would be interesting to see him up against Fred.

Why would Michael come back to work for Ferrari after getting pushed out by LDM? I think he doesn't want a win that badly.

Schumacher’s strength at Ferrari was the team he built around himself. It is a different culture at Ferrari now and he doesn’t have the time left to do it again.
It has very little to do with Massa’s driving ability.
