I'm getting mixed reviews, and my youngest son is dying to see it. Thoughts from those of you that have already seen the movie would be appreciated. He's sat through the Lord of the Rings movies, so he isn't what I'd call squeamish.

    I would.

    I saw Schindler's List when I was 10.

It's really not bloody or gory, but it really is intense. Ledger's performance is the stuff nightmares are made of.

I saw the movie yesterday. I read several reviews that said it should have been closer to being rated R rather than the PG-13 it has. I would agree with that after seeing it.

I would not take a 10 year old to see it were it I.

I wouldn't take a kid under 13-15 to see it. It's not necessarily gore, but the action is intense in a way that LOTR is not.

I would not take my 10-year-old. I saw it last night. Loved it, but would not want my child seeing quite a few of those scenes.

I wouldn't, it just way too intense. Border line of being a rated R movie.

I would if the kid has been weaned on these types of movies. If he's only used to watching cartoons and kids movies then probably not.

My aunt started watching horror and violent movies with me when i was much younger than that. I remember seeing the original Alien in the theater when i was ~8 and not being scared because i understood it was a movie and in no way real.

I grew up to be a very mellow and non violent adult.

I was 7.5yr's old when my dad and stepmom took me and my slightly older brother to see The Godfather, we loved it and my brother and I are straight arrow's. After being a father figure to my god daughter, who I would die for and love as if she is my own flesh and blood, I would not take her to see it if she was still 10yr's old.

Your call.. you know your child better than any of us, of course your ability to explain the twisted nature of mad men will help him understand that Magic Tricks , such as making a pencil disappearing, are never to be repeated for the enjoyment of your friends and neighbors.

While i thought it was a great movie, i wouldn't take a 10 year old.
Like others have said, it's blood and gore that's the issue, but rather the intensity. Parts of it are pretty dark and twisted.

It is a great movie, but I would not take a 10 year old... unless said child owns a cell phone, has internet access and drinks Starbucks (as many of this generation do).

Nothing worse than the catfish I cut up in front of your kids! :)

Jennie and I saw it Saturday, Mia wasn't too scared. :D;):D Just joking, she was at home with Grandma.

Only part that would be marginal was showing Harvey Two Face, that even disturbed me a little, I know there would be some nightmares if I had that engrained in my 10 year old head.

Saw it on IMAX. It's loud.

Really depends on the kid. Impressionable? Easily scared? Mean streak? I wouldn't feed those tendencies.

My Mom took me (10) and my brother (7 1/2) to see Alien when it came out in '79. We LOVED it.

That said - I haven't seen the new Batman movie...

I thought it was great. You never saw and blood, but I think some of the things they were pushing the rating to an 'R'. I say go for it.

I think there is sort of a line that is crossed, and obviously it depends on the kid, but at 10 I would be alright with it. When too many restrictions are put on a kid from a young age, in my observation, when they start to get freedoms they dont deal with it very well

Probably depends on the kid mostly. I was recently asked by a girl whether she should take her two sons I said yes for one of them and probably no for the other little guy I forget their ages but I went off their character/behaviour instead, at that age I was already watching horror movies with tons of gore haha

The good news is the young one is the one that LIKED watching Rob cut up the catfish. He's not squeamish.

That's the concern, he tends to latch on to things and not let go. I made the mistake of taking him to see "Don't Mess With The Zohan" and I heard about it for weeks. Stupid movie, but it's now one of his top 3. I don't want to be hearing about the strange stuff from Batman until September.

The age is irrelevant, the maturity of your child is what matters. There are 8 year olds that can handle the movie and 13 year olds that can't.

I watched some pretty messed up television at the age of 10, I think I turned out okay.

There's nothing too scary as others have said. It's just that the Joker is one crazy son-of-a-***** in this film. He doesn't show any gore, but the way he talks & some of the things he does can make shivers roll down your spine.

I decided to see the movie with my 13 yr old, then decide if I'd let my younger kid see it. As we walked out of the movie, I asked my son if he thought his brother should see it. His response was a resounding 'No'. I agreed with him, it was a little too dark and disturbing. The Joker was one of the best movie psycho's I've ever seen.
