These stickers are mandatory and name the dangers of OPENING the covers and fiddling with the system. Has anyone ever heard of someone being electrocuted while refueling a Prius?

Ferrari is experimenting with the KERS system, and hasn't come up with anything definite as the finitive design. Ferrari admits it is struggling with the KERS for the 2009 F1, so what you show in your picture above is just one example of many possible prototypes being tried. The gloves are Dielectric and anti-vibration (bladder absorbing).

BTW - "Pruis, no. BMW, yep"... Hmmm. The few BMW's I've owned in the past, as well as the daily driver I use today are having no problem because BMW was among the first automakers to negatively charge the ions in the frame during the painting process. My 1983 Ferrari, however was not zinc-based when painted, nor were their frames electrically charged until 1984. Therefore, when I fuel-up, I must avoid a kinetic energy buildup by touching the car before fueling.

As for Prius retaining kinetic energy, the fuel container is rubberized, which expands and contracts according to the outside temperature. This causes a common Prius problem - the fuel gauge gets out of sync according to the season.

Are you people sure the gloves aren't for a new Lord Bernie-imposed cavity check, to see if someone's hiding a pound note or two from his reach?

Kinetic Recovery System = Regenerative Braking. The rule say 60kW/82 bhp. It is then released in spurts not to exceed 6.7 seconds per lap. Think push to pass. A system similar to the Prius is only one way to accomplish this. Others are out there and being tested. The far end of development is hydraulic systems that load and then power separate electric motors on the drivetrain. There is no set way to comply with the FIA's KER green requirement and there could be surprises. The January Road & Track (which I can't link) is full of new to me info.

"IF" you are wrong, think about this...

The Toyota Prius uses clean battery technology...wait a minute! The Prius batteries get their nickle from Canada, and are assembled in China. What is involved?

The nickle is mined in Canada, sending clouds of phosphoric Sulphur and acid rain into the atmosphere, and the battery casings are assembled in China, causing carcenogenic mixtures released into the atmosphere and in the plant where the workers assemble the casings.

In the 2008 season opener, Top Gear pitted a Toyota Prius against a BMW M3 to record the fuel efficiency of each against eachother. Driving at the same speed, each with the same amount of gas, the results were compared. The BMW M3 got BETTER gas mileage than the Prius. So, it's not 'what' you drive, but 'how' you drive. Building the BMW was more 'environmentally friendly' than building the Prius. So, if people are concerned about the environment, they would boycott Prius ownership.

Al Gore owns and flies in his Gulf Stream 2. The fuel cost is an average of $4,000.00 per hour, but think of his fuel consumption. Why doesn't he fly commercial and share the pollution and consumption with others?

One of Al Gore's homes utilizes the same electricity in one year, as 272 average American homes. Why does he waste so much energy? He's like the guy who "plays" the doctor on TV, telling us something about medicine, then getting a Nobel Peace Prize for his "work".

Nancy Pelosi invested in T. Boone Pickens's wind power plan, and told the American people that it is the best alternative for natural gas production which is an alternative to fossil fuels. What she doesn't realize is that natural gas comes from fossil fuels. And, what's wrong with fossil fuel usage? It is fuel from marine fossils, and to think that we could possibly use up all the existing fossils in the world, is to think that marine life will live forever, and never die again. Didn't she see, "Lion King"? She must have at least heard the song, "Circle of Life," right? The earth will always have fossil fuels.

I guess I could plant a tree somewhere, but I don't feel like re-locating one right now. I think trees will continue to grow just fine where they are, and without my help in moving them somewhere else.

Obama says he is going to shut down the coal mining industry, because it causes Global Warming. Doesn't he realize that coal is the major product used to make electricity, or as he calls it, "clean alternative energy"?, which (according to him) we should be using instead of gasoline.

No matter how much of my hard-earned tax money goes to the American auto industry, I don't ever see myself buying any car designed by Congress. If I buy an American car someday, it will be a Pre-Congress Ride.

Have a nice day, and enjoy your Ferrari. I do.
