Thats mad can you imagine trying to handle it in the bends, mind you it wont half surprise some people.
That's old as dirt. Goes back when Bimmer won Le Mans!!! If they only had made a couple of 'em ... take that Porsche! LMAO This prototype was supposedly faster than a GT3 around the old Nurburgring.
Great vid, especially if you have dial-up...I've been looking for that vid for along time...except I really wasn't expecting it to be only ~2mb. That has to be one of the most compressed vids I've seen, but for 5min+ in only 2mb its pretty good, and I'm glad the sound survived, that's the important part . BMW sure does know how to make brilliant engines don't they... That X5 thing brings up some questions: I wonder where that engine came from, is it a heavily massaged version of the engine from the 8 series or is it from racing (I'm guessing its from a roadcar with all that torque)? I wonder what BMW did with that thing, it seems really cool, I'm surprised we haven't heard more about it... I wonder if that engine would fit into an M3...
Im gonna speculate its an evolution of the one developed for the Mclaren F1 roadcar, same size, probably similar power characteristics...that torque output is EXCELLENT for a NA 6 liter...
A few years ago Frank Williams was badly injured in a car accident leaving him confined to a wheelchair. The folks at Renault (during the Williams Renault F1 championship years) took the undrpinnings from a Williams Renault F1 car and put a Espace or Kangaroo body on it so Frank could go for some laps round the track with his drivers.
