03466 arrived yesterday and finally was able go through the gears. All I can say is OMG that engine sound is sooooo sweeeeet!!! Shifting is more fun than I can describe— very solid and easy —my Dino does not have the second gear issue (maybe the low mileage is the reason or maybe I am lucky) and no need to double clutch downshifts although I like to do the heel/toe. Up until this car, the last Dino I saw in the wild was in Malibu in 1990– love at first sight. In that regard they are somewhat of a unicorn. I have been in San Diego since 1996 and have never seen one driving around the streets or highways. Lots of stares and people snapping pictures of my Marrone Metallizzato Dino. I overheard one guy say to his friends, “I don’t know what that is but that is one beautiful car”. I agree and would add that it is also a very special car and I am privileged to be its caretaker.

I could wax poet forever regarding my car because it affects so many senses. I shall spare you all that but suffice it to say that once you drive it, you understand.

Drove it up to the La Jolla part of San Diego (I live near downtown (Mission Hills)) this past weekend. Was great to get it up to speed on the freeway and get the revs up—I got it up to 95 but I really think this car can cruise all day at 100– not that I would. Water temp at 195 for a mild 75 degree San Diego day so all good. I have all original glass so I am going to have someone install ClearPlex wrap on the windshield to protect from rock chips. I have original key set so I ordered blanks to have every day keys made. Having fun learning about this car and it’s history— can’t wait for my Compendium to arrive!!!

Sounds like you have a very logical plan for long term ownership.

    Pro tip.

Get an uncut key blank for the ignition and put it on a repro Dino key fob.

Leave it in the ignition when you park the car so passers-by can get good photos and you don’t have to worry about leaving an actual functioning key in the ignition.

The dashboard looks 100 times cooler with a Dino key/fob in it.

    Re: driving at 95 mph.

Thanks for the tips! Got carried away on driving it. Tires have nipples and zero wear but are 10 years old. I wanted to drive the car for around 500 miles before bringing it in the shop. Car has had service but has been driven less than 1,000 miles in last 10 years—the first 40 years accounted for 22,367 miles. It runs so good but I need to do a reset and bring it to my guy (Chis Dugan in Oceanside, CA) to check it out and put a fresh set of tires on it and whatever else needs to be done. Thanks UroTrash!
