I remember going to take a look at this car (what feels like) a couple months ago for ed_and_tony (IIRC), and then after about a week later, I never saw it again - I figure it had gone East. Now I just noticed it's back up on Craigslist at the same dealer, so it must never have left! Price is definitely lower than I last remember it... I went for a ride in this car, and thought it was okay - nothing jumped out at me as being immediately *grossly* bad.

Now for $16k or so, shouldn't this thing FLY outta there, even if it's a basket case?

Good color combo at least. A full black interior is really how it should be.
Too bad it's not wrecked and being parted.....I'd buy all that black interior for any future 400i 5-speed I buy that might have something ungainly like tan, blue, red or whatever. :)

Just has my interest as to why this car hasn't sold, as stated by the other posts here? If I was in a position to buy a Ferrari, any Ferrari, this has to be a screaming deal. Something in this cars past, that makes it unattractive?
A front engined V12--5 speed manual--2+2, for under $20000. and in a good color scheme, that is drivable, sounds like deal to good to pass up.

It's not a 5-speed. If it were, it would certainly be sold already.

I see it has no CA plates on it. Perhaps an out of state car that may not pass CA smog?

And white? On a Ferrari? Kind of dull....

I checked it's VIN against the Bureau of Automotive Repair website's Smog History check, and it returned no data, so it must be an out-of-state car. That said, whoTF cares? Certainly there are people outside the state of California shopping for a 400!

I looked at that car the last time it was mentioned on FerrariChat.

Does not run well-injection very rich, with an exhaust in poor condition.

Transmission was a little slow to shift.

    Differential a bit noisy.

Suspension bushings all need to be redone.

Tires are TRX and need to be replaced.

Doors do not fit well, and it needs a repaint.

Leather inside dry, a fair amount of cracking, and it needs a redye. Carpets...so so. Switches on steering column need to be replaced. Power windows need some work.

Spare wheel, but no tool kit. No manuals or service history other than a little recent work to make it start and run.

Took it to about 50 mph...everything felt loose.

The dealer is a nice guy, seems strightforward, but does not seem very knowledgable. States he took the car in on a trade.

    Hope this helps...

    Scott

Could it have some accident history that we don't know about?
