I’ve found the perfect 488 apart from one bit. The ghastly black (not even carbon) side sill.

Rather it not, but can it be painted?
Ideally wrapped, without ruining the colour / have some weird two tone.

I won’t risk ruining it and I guess tinted windows and lowering would help it blend in more, but yeah, would prefer red ha

Are you sure it isn't wrapped black? If this is the only issue with the spec, you've hit a home run. Pull the trigger and fix the side sill whenever you get around to it.

Amazingly this was a charged option from Ferrari, standard configuration was to have the sill in body color. So for sure it could be repainted.
Could you have a look at the options list that's in the trunk?
I think the option was PEXS, "Sport Sill Cover", EUR 900 in France in 2015.

I wrapped my w88 in carbon and it looked fine. I bought it second hand so wrapping it was the only option. From factory it’s like 9k for carbon or black paint. Or wrap it for 100 bucks.

I have a white 458 with CF lower sill. I think it looks awesome, but again it's all personal preference.

I'm sure you have some options available for paint/wrap if this is otherwise your car. Heck, it might even turn out better than a Ferrari stock paint job, lol! Good luck.

I'd leave it as it is, I prefer the look. My 458 has "EXT DOOR SILL PROTECTOR SPORT PEXS $1179" so I am obviously biased.

Maybe you can wrap it in gloss black and match it with the roof. That way you can get rid of the cheap plastic look.

My 488 side sills are painted satin blacl. Not flat and not gloss, but in between. Looks great and holds up extremely well. Much better than just the plastic look.

Keep it the same. It accentuates the body lines in a great way.
I would have changed mine to black if my car had body colour sills when I got it.....

I would paint the wheels though......satin black.

The flat black was on early cars. Then Ferrari changed it to body colour.

Having black/carbon many see a reduction in the body thickness.

But my decision would be to just get the carbon parts as the car has carbon blades in the air intake and will match. If the blades were body colour i would just paint the sills to red.

DO NOT paint them another colour . You also have one other option since you are going to do something with them.

You might be happy to know the Pista sills fit exactly. Maybe some carbon Pista sills and be different if you like them.
