What a dumb Ferrari driver for putting his life, his car and other people in danger. Just had to make it worse and more obvious by leading them on a short pursuit.

That's some very angry cop to hit a Ferrari in the back though.

Even a 360 won't outrun a Motorola. Maybe the cops used their heads and radios instead of relying on horsepower.

I honestly can't understand that, you know you're going to get caught so why keep on running, I don't know about Sweden's laws but here you're looking at large fines and jail time, is it really worth it?

I guess Sweden doesn't use spike strips, that would better & cost effective than damaging the police car. What a Dingus.

Looks like the guy probably got held up in traffic after taking off. It was probably within the cops procedures to ram a vehicle if they are trying to flee. The cop most likely seized the opportunity to "get" the Ferrari driver.

It can be jail here up to 6 months and the insurance dosen't cover this sort of accident so he have big bills to pay to. I think he have to pay for the policecar as well.

You say dumb ferrari owner, I say dumb jealous cops. In a country like Sweden where people get taxed like crazy it is a VERY VERY rare thing to see a ferrari and I am sure when a cop does and has the oppertunity to get his "frusterations" out he does. I am almost certain there was no need to cause that much damage to the car and if they let him run away its not like they couldn't track down one of the like 3 ferraris in Sweden...Of course the cop probably ran to the local bar that evening bragging that he got to destroy some "rich" persons Ferrari. If this was Italy the cops would have probably cheered on the race and afterwards stopped the winner to congratulate him =)

Ferrari is not so very exotic in sweden that you say. it is about 400 ferraris in sweden. And it is a very small country. They catch the outer one at the track later that day. But the driver that was pray of the way drive in wrong direction on the highway for a while.

But you right the taxes here are extreme. One litre petrol cost $1.2 - 1.3

    Born free, taxes to death!!!

I agree that there are too few Ferraris in Sweden. And the cops might indeed have been jealous, as they're forced to drive boring Volvos all day long.

But I have to disagree with the rest. According to the news the two cars did a U-turn on the highway and drove in the wrong direction of traffic. They did this for several kilometers before one of them was rammed.

The second guy got away. And I doubt he'll be in any sort of legal problems after this.

You see, the deal is that if he were NOT stopped by police at that time, a police officer has to be able to identify the driver of that car in court, or he can not be convicted of the crime. Just him owning the car and having driven it that day is not enough. Or even on that stretch of road. Unless a police officer saw him commit the traffic violations (not just saw the car, but him driving it) he can not be convicted.

However, if they had managed to stop him, like the first guy, while chasing him they would have (according to the law) known that indeed it was him driving it, and therefor he would most likely have been convicted for reckless driving and what not. And I believe THIS is the primary reason to why they rammed the first guy. It will make prosecuting him a whole lot easier.

As for cheering the race; if they had not tried to stopped them the police officers themselves would be guilty of a crime.

And frankly, I consider anyone who try to escape from the police an idiot. Much more dangerous to other people than just some speeding.

He wasn't going in the wrong direction in 120mph.

And from what I've heard the other Ferrari was a Maranello, a 575M I've been told but they weren't sure.

And the car hitting the Modena wasn't the car in the pictures, it was a white civilian police car, seen in one of the other photos.

Don't go believeing that you get free reign of the motorways in Italy. They are getting much tougher on speeding. The whole of Europe seems to be, regardless of traffic conditions.

Not stopping when the cops want you to is stupid in the extreme.

I beg to differ about the "free reign" in Italy. Its all relative and as far as I am concerned --I much rather be speeding in Italy than US or Sweden where there is much more enforcement of the law. Lots of personal experience tells me you can more or less drive any speed you want on the major autostradas especially in Southern Italy and run only the risk of getting your license plate photographed and a fine in the mail which is a price I am willing to pay to drive exotic cars near their limit whereas in the US you get your ass hauled off to jail. Also the following has happened more than once to me, I am driving along in the left lane at a cool 190 km/hr and a police car out of nowhere gets up my ass high beams blinking' hands' motioning as he proceeds to curse me for being in his way, of course I cautiously pull to the side and let him go. Gotta love Italy!!!

You must have been the other ******* in the other Ferrari. Anyone endangering innocent people by racing in any direction on the highway should be prosecuted, especially when running away from the police.

Obviously if they were racing down the street in the wrong direction that is a very stupid thing to do and they deserved what they got, however if they were just having a "spirited" driving experience having fun with their toys even going twice the legal limit, I think its absolutely ridiculous for the cops to have rammed him
