This crash pretty much wiped out the owner financially. He was test driving the car when he crashed it without insurance. He was forced to buy the car for $800,000 and didn't have enough money to repair it. So now he's stuck with a wrecked F40 and no money.

    Whoops!

    Looks like an LM!
    Joe may have more information.

    BS meter... "off the charts".
I could be wrong, but I doubt it in this case.

sorry i have no sympathy!! if he chose to drive it with no insurance it serves him right, i run a business where we collect clients cars & would not dream of collecting one without insurance!

I did find it a little odd that someone would buy a car to the entire value of their net worth :)

It looks to have LM style lights at the least.

Im full of questions on this one, rhetorical ones perhaps...

    1. Explain why he was "forced to buy the car for $800,000"?

    2. Why was this car worth $800,000? (its not a real LM)

    Respectfully submitted.

Wouldn't the dealership have had insurance to cover such an accident? Unless it was a private party, then that would create an issue.

car was for sale on ebay and already discussed on another thread. the auction mentioned that the car had no insurance and crashed on the testdrive.

If it was a dealer car, it would be their insurance that would cover the wreck I thought. Even so, why would they let someone without insurance test drive the car? Also, if 800G's wiped him out financially, why the hell is he test driving the car? I think this story is BS. I'd be less surprised to hear he wrecked it, insurance didnt cover it, so he bought this one AND one that works!

I'm not sure if this is true or not but are prices on exotics raised due to taxes in Japan like they are in other Asian countries? If so that could explain the price tag if this is in fact a true story.
