We are thinking about building a 300+ MPH car for Bonneville and thought about starting with a TR this time instead of a 308. So we are on the hunt for one with a blown/no engine, and or some body damage. This looks like a good platform to start with as the aerodynamics are already pretty good.

We would be going for the AA record so we would need an 8 liter engine. Probably a Dart or Donovan big block. We would also have to lenghten the car somewhat.
Here is some video from our record run in the 288 (308) GTO in Oct for those that haven't seen it.

Awesome videos! I'm glad that turned out to be a water tank next to you and not fuel!

A lot of slagging comments on those videos by opinionated wankers, but hats off to you. 444km/ph is bloody fast in any car irrespective of the chassis/engine combination.

It would be amazing to see / hear more about the way the car was setup to be able to handle those speeds from a chassis/steering/geometry point of view.

Basically a (somewhat rusty) stock chassis with Boxer brakes (truck master cylinder), stock steering, new shocks, 500lbs of lead bolted down in the nose, with a little luck thrown in for good measure. You use almost no steering input and you can see in the video how stable it is at speed, just a little squirley between gears
