No, not quite. See the prices in Post 16.
Duh. You’re right...... However 150k euros in 1998 seems a cheap car (I’ve just converted it to pounds). I’ll find the invoice for mine and check. R Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
I can’t find it. You must be right. I always though euro-dollar in 1998 was around 1:1. So it’s about 150k dollars? I guess you’ll know if that sounds right. Just sounds cheap for a new 550. I thought the list was over 200k dollars for the base model. However my memory is terrible. R Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Aha. Just found a receipt for mine from 1998. It when the car was new (I didn’t buy it - I would have had an old bicycle then) and it’s for the equivalent of 25,000 dollars. So I guess that’s a huge load of extras ? R Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Hi there. I didn’t buy mine so it’s taken a while to get the info. The basic price in 1998 was €205, 000 .... plus I’ve got and an extra €25, 000 euros bill on top ? So I guess that’s €230 (Ferrari 550 Schumacher). As I guess the €150k must have been the balance after a deposit had been paid ? Cheers Ralph Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Hi, I agree, I remember the sales rep, at Ferrari Sweden, telling me the car originally was beyond Euro 200'-230' (with all the options) but never found a receipt of the option list or final bill. FYI, in the list of the Schumacher spec, you could also order an on-board phone. In my car I have the phone kit/receiver under the racing seat and a phone holder mounted between the seats. The phone itself though, did not come the car when I bought it. See the "phone holder-lump" just below the ashtray below. Regards Patrik . Image Unavailable, Please Login
Aha. This all makes sense now. I’ve never seen a phone option. The Concours judges were surprised at my Schumacher 550. They hadn’t seen one in the flesh. Plus they were surprised by a spare wheel in the trunk (boot) with a jack. They are both beautifully fitted in a leather bags - but leave about enough room for a ladies handbag. I’d love to see what the phone looked like. R Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
See option no 38 in the brochure. (I'll take a better photo of the phone kit ones I get the "pyjamas" off the car. ) Image Unavailable, Please Login
If only Ferrari would release information on the cars around 113182 (Michaels car). I think it’s likely they are rarer than the 30 plus WSR cars. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Ferrari 550 Michael Schumacher Just thought of another deference between the Schumacher and the WSR. The likely stereo on the later later WSR is a Becker Grand Prix ..... ..... while on the early Ferrari 550 Schumacher is a Sony XR-F21RDS. Just thought of that while I was sitting in the car earlier. That does not look like an OEM CF shifter ball and gate. When CF was an OEM option, Ferrari put the shift pattern on the gate instead of the shifter ball. The Cavallino on the gate was replaced with the shifter pattern.
Hi there The shifter pattern was on the WSR 550 models only. The ball on the WSR and Schumacher models was the same as the F50 being made at the same time. It’s in the official brochure. See following..... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
And here is the gate from a WSR Image Unavailable, Please Login Showing the gear pattern on the gate. Cheers Ralph Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Wrong, I have the factory full carbon pkg and it is exactly like pic you posted with the shift pattern on the gate.
Dave- Affirmative. Laws in most nations required the shift pattern to be near the gearshift. Like I said originally, Ferrari either put it on the gearshift knob or the shift gate, depending on whether she had CF or not. That CF gearshift knob was used on several models.
Gentlemen. I stand corrected. Ferrari and the FOC UK said my car was very unusual with some factory features they hadn’t seen before .... except the wing shields which were added.... (but I like - so they are staying at the moment). They were more interested in where/who I got it from. (I didn’t buy it - I was given it as a gift). However they still gave it Gold at the National Concours in 2018. It’s a European car - but I guess they both may be incorrect in its originality if what you say is correct. Oh. Ps. Here is the Official Carrozzeria Scaglierri brochure for the 355 at the same time. Mine is the Schumacher model - But Paul Cayard’s is the “F355 Paul Caynard”. You’ll see his has the CF gear knob without the shift patter and metal gate without shift pattern (just like mine). So perhaps Ferrari and the FOC Uk have the correct Image Unavailable, Please Login knowledge of these unusual cars after all. Any ideas ? The gear numbers on this model maybe at the end of each shift rather than on the ball or where Cavallino Rampante is on the gate. So different again ? (It’s difficult to see). Cheers Ralph Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
