Hey Guys I am reaching out to the group if anyone knows of a well loved and maintained 206 or 246 that might come up for sale privately. Now that I have completed a 2 year restoration of my Fiat Dino 2.4 https://www.flickr.com/photos/99447811@N04/albums/72157662551105406 I know the meaning of hard labor. I am looking for a Euro version DINO that has some paper trails / history and any color but red. GT or GTS. The early 206 would be great however they are out of my price range. I might! entertain the idea of a restoration project. However, knowing what it takes... The entry price would need to be attractive. I even tough about trading in my Fiat 2.4 in exchange? Thanks Olivier
This '73 Euro Spec GT coupe is listed for sale at Drivers Source at $359,500 and is also on EBay. Cool original color (Verde Pino Met.) with lots of originality. Looks like it has some rust bubbling through but looks really honest. Maybe even original paint? Not unusual for Euro spec Dinos that haven't been covered in lipstick. Looks to be the basis for an honest as-is driver while improving it as you go and/or as a future restoration project. Looks like lots of potential. Also with the side marker light and interior seatbelt light, looks as though it was taken through DOT when imported which is a good thing to help track it's history. DOT still has the records available. Good luck! I have no relation to this car. Freeman Classic and Collector Car Inventory | DriverSource : Fine Motorcars | Houston, TX Ferrari 246GT Dino | eBay
"Discovered nearly twenty five years after being stored away this remarkable Dino GT Presents in largely untouched condition and possesses a fantastic time-warp appeal" So in addition to a bare metal respray (crazed lacquer can't be painted over), rust repair, and interior, everything in the braking system and much in the cooling systems will have to be replaced. I suspect one could find a much nicer car for $360K. Jim Oddie
A+ I was thinking the same. After spending 2 years in completely restoring my Dino Spider 2.4. I know what it would take to bring this car to life. The numbers simply don't add up.
Good, documented matching numbers Euro Spec Dinos in the U.S. are much harder to find than U.S. Spec cars. You can see the EBay auction made it to about $250K w/o reaching the reserve. I'm sure there's room to negotiate. Who knows what a real transaction price could be. I love your Fiat Dino Spider BTW! Freeman
Thanks on the positive comments on my Spider Dino. The more I look at my car, I think I will keep it. I placed an add on Hemmings thinking about selling. However, now I realize that if I sell it. I will probably never get to own a nice DINO like that ever. I looked at that green DINO on ebay. That car scare's me. There is more work than meets the eye on that car. I would prefer car that has been maintained and adored by a DINO enthusiast.
Love your Dino ... During restoration I stopped buy the shop quite a few time to watch the progress as they also do my work . It looks great I saw you on the road once with it.. O why not bring it to C and C this saturday if.. you can... (at the promenade ) and if I were you after all the work and time you put into it I would not sell it Larry
